It could also be having a drain or fill problem. It adds time to compensate for a slow fill or long drain. Most brands brand have an error code for this but not all. First check to make sure you are getting ample water to your machine. Then make sure your water valves or clog free and al the way open. Then chack to make sure you are not draining slow. If all that checks out then call a technician to diagnose the real problem so you don't go out and throw expensive parts at and still have the problem.

I need the compressor to run for a longer period of time. what do I do? Does the defrost timer has anything to do with it

Yes, when the defrost cycle is running the compressor isn't. Defrost timer should run a defrost cycle twice a day. Interval is 12 hours, defrost usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. Some cycle the compressor backwards slowly to warm the evaporator and melt the frost faster. I had a commercial walk in freezer that defrosted every 2 hours and had an evaporator heater element. The timer switches off the compressor and turns on the heater.

My LG dishwasher counter doesn't count down

Since you didn't give the model number, I looked at a general user manual for an LG dishwasher. It suggested that if the water is cold, it would take longer to wash the dishes. That suggests to me that a cold water temperature might prevent the timer from starting till the desired temp is reached. Could that be the problem? Could it be connected to a cold water supply rather than hot? Is the hot water set too low?

Why does my Kenmore HE3t front load washer always take more time to finish then what it says on the timer?

Check the filters in both ends of the hoses. If they are clogged, it will throw the timer off. If it figures on 2 minutes to fill but it actually takes 6 or 7 minutes, the timer won't be accurate.

How many hours per day should a pool filter be running?

It depends on your environment that you are living. A pump/filter that is not close to trees or vegetationand used once a day in Arizona might need to run only 2-3 hours a day, while a pump/filter in Georgia that is close to trees and vegetation and used by many kids will take 5-6 hours minimum. Although it is better to run it longer than actually needed they do eat up electricity.

I have intermatic TN311 MODEL TIMER IDK HOW 2 WORK I WANT IT TO COME ON AND OFF FOR 15 MIN EVERY HOUR FOR 12 ORS A DAY IS THAT POSSIBLE AND HOW

Open following link to identify TM311 timer:
http://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-TN311C-Heavy-Grounded-Timer/dp/B00002N5FO

1) First of all, you would need more turquoise 107TN222 ON and red 107TN221 OFF trippers.

2) BUT big problem is that TN311 time dial is divided into half-hour segments, so minimum on-off is probably 1 hour since it takes 2 trippers for on-off cycle, and width of 2 trippers is same width as 1 hour.

3) Open following link for plug-in timers with 15 minute segments shows Woods 49664 & Stanley 31192 & Sylvania SA110
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#49664

4) Notice the 49664 dial, that each hour is represented by 4 segments. This says timer on-off period is 15 minutes.

To set this timer, you would pull up all segments around the dial, and then push down 1 segment for each hour that you want timer to turn on for 15 minutes.

5) TN311 has 3 prong grounded outlet, Woods 49664 has 2-prong outlet.

6) Stanley 31192 timer and Sylvania SA110 have 3-prong grounded outlets and 15 minute intervals.

7) You cannot accomplish 15 minutes intervals for 12 periods a day with programmable digital timer.
Most digital timers allow 1 minute program times, but are limited to 6 or 7 programs, and not the 12 separate on-off periods needed for your project.

When setting the timer (model 12-817) power is activated between the hour choices (2 hr, 4 hr etc) but the power goes off when the dial is turned to the actual hour selection. If left between the hour...

What timer is this?
http://www.electricsupplyonline.com/prod/intermatic-springwound_timers.php

Sounds like a defective timer.
I have three Intermatic spring wound timers that are used every day, and never have that problem.
After all, how does the timer 'know' when it's set on the 'hour' since the dial does not have stop points at specific times?

THE WASH CYCLE IS TAKING LONGER AND LONGER. SOMETIMES IT EVEN STOPS DURING THE CYCLE AND YOU HAVE TO GIVE THE DIAL A SLIGHT TURN TO GET IT GOING AGAIN.

could be having a skip in the timer starting to appear you have to realize those timers are ment to only go in a clockwise direction so sometimes when our wives are in a rush and they turn the dial the oppisite way they dont really realize but there causing damage to the machine timer. but first thing to do is what kind of machine is the washer and what is the model number of your machine. also when the machine is done washing how is it washing are the clothes overly wet or a little wetter then usual also i have seen on some front load units when they get oversoaped in other words when one person puts soap in then by accident someone else does this really messes with the machine and makes the machine work longer to get rid of the excess soap so write me back with make and model and if it is the soap problem easy remedy is to run it twice with nothing on the inside of the machine and no soap added I await your reply and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation and once again if i can answer anything futher write back Thanks (p.s please specify also if you have front or top load washer)

I start the wash cycle timer reads 1:02 machine runs and timer counts down to 54 mins. then resets to 1:12 mins. which inturn adds approx. 18-20 mins to wash cycle why the reset??

I had a similar problem with ours and had a repair guy come out and look at it. He suggested running a couple of heavy bleach cycles through the machine. He said that sometimes if you use too much detergent (especially if you're not using the "High Efficiency" type of detergent) detergent builds up on a sensor in the machine and causes longer than necessary wash cycles. We actually ran 2 cycles of bleach and then a couple more with no bleach or detergent and the problem cleared up.

Setting the delay on the oven

To correctly proceed you have to know the format the timer program is working in. SO you need to know
1Time format IE 12 hour AM - PM or 24 hr military time 2If a day, date is required M-Sun...or IE Sat 12th of March...(some times this is not a peramiter needed)

With the clock and calendar set the delay time should require a "timed mode setting" prior to being able to set the timer. Once in this mode you will have 1 of 3 ways to set the time delay depending on how the timer is set up to read your instructions. .
1 the actual time of day it is to start (set in actual clock time like the equalivant of 3:05 PM or if in military time, 24hr clock 15:05) or 2 the actual delay time until the program is set to start (again set in hours and minutes 2:10 = 2 hours and 10 minutes from now) 3 also is the stop time, when you want to program to end (also set in the format the timer is programed to recieve instructions)

Also the calendar could be waiting for input as to which day to start the program
