Question about Washing Machines

Nec nw452 washing machine water level does not stop. It overflows even when I put it on low level load. I keep having to turn the machine off and bail the water out into the sink.

Same problem - machine keeps overfilling even on low water level (and then flooding out the laundry).

I have the same problem, and I am still fixing it (looks like the clear tube running down the rear left is blocked) but put your machine on spin cycle to empty the water, instead of the old bucket approach.

I have just fixed this issue on my machine. Empty the machine by using the program options to spin only. Turn off power. Remove the plastic back plate then the silver back plate. Looking at the rear of the machine bowl, right hand side is a plastic tube which runs to the top right hand side of the machine. This is the water level sensor tube. Check if it is broken or blocked. Mine was broken near the top of the machine. I removed the lid (becareful to take note how the spring fits in with the leid for when you replace it. Remove the control panel cover. I saw the water level sensor (looking from the rear of the machine) to the right. It is brown and has one connector which needs to be disconnected (red and white connectors). Then the water level sensor is removed from its housing by unclipping the two clips. Once removed I replaced the tube and then put it all back together.

Thank you for posting this! We followed your detailed advice and this was our exact problem! My husband said that it may not be necessary to take the top panels off if the machine is blocked where the pipe plugs into the bowl. Thanks again!

    Hi @dusty2010,
Just signed up as I wanted to say thank-you as this was also my problem.
I managed to buy 5m of tube for $5, so I also replaced the bubble pump hose as well, as a bit of preventative maintenance.
Gladly, I won't have to pay a ridiculous amount for a service call-out.

I don't know nec specifically but here is some guidance
water level is determined by a pressure stat which is located at the top of the machine so start by removing the worktop. the pressure stat is usually round and with up to 9 electrical terminals to it and a small diameter tube connected. this tube goes to an air chamber. check the tube is not blocked or split and that the air chamber is not blocked. blockage is the usual cause of this problem.
to check if the pressure stat is ok, get some tube of the same diameter, and fit in place of the existing tube. start the machine on fill and put pressure into the tube reasonably gently (ie from mouth). you should hear a click and the water should stop

Water level control switch not working. even i set water level to very low it just keeps filling and has overflowed. i am guessing that the switch needs to be replaced.

It depending on exactly what your seeing that will determine the problem.

Does your washer start agitating and keep filling?? if yes it does start agitating and the water continuies to fill try disconnectiing the power and if it keeps filling what would be wrong is that the water inlet valve is sticking open and it would need to replaced

If the washer continues to fill and does not start agaitating would be a defective water level switch as you suspect it may be.If ya disconnect the power and it STOPS filling replace the water level(pressure) switch.

Help! My fisher paykel washing machine won't stop filling up!

If the water continues to fill even if unplugged the water valve is sticking and needs replaced. if removing power turns the water off the water level pressure switch is bad or there is something plugging the sensor tube somewhere.

GE SpaceMaker washing machine does not stop filling.

try replacing your water selenoid coming in. remember it isnt a mechanical timer it is a computerized timer, so if the selenoid isnt the problem, it might be the computerized timer. computers are very finicky, pain in the a- -!

Ge wbsr washer overflows...

Could it be ...this happens only when it is overloaded or the load is out of balance. Please clarify.

If this is not the case .. the water level hose running from the outside tank to the water level switch is likely not making a good seal (otherwise the water level switch itself is bad). Sometimes with age the hose forms a crack in it near or at the end where it connects. This could happen at either end of the hose. Also if you have removed the control panel recently (for any reason) you may have (not knowingly) pulled the water level hose loose from the water level switch. Just slide the hose back onto the tube of the switch before putting the control panel back in place and all will be fine after the first filling of the tub (it may take one filling cycle to build the needed vacuum back up in the hose). Unless of course in the process you have broken the tube off the switch where the hose goes on. In this case replace the switch.
