Hi muraripcs,

Logon as Administrator and delete the protected folder.

You logon as Administrator like this:
Open the command prompt with Administrative privileges by opening the Start Menu, and typing cmd in the search box, and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
Type the following in the command prompt:
net user administrator /active:yes
Press Enter
Restart your computer and logon as Administrator.
Note: You might want to set a password for the administrator’s account for at least a little protection.
Warning: Running as Administrator in Windows Vista bypasses all security and is NOT recommended.
If you decide to use the Administrator account don’t complain when you start having problems :-).

I am trying to unistall elibrary software and i am getting an error message 1324 the path sony reader contains an invalid character

Hi!

You can try to manually remove the software and reinstall, BTW there is no operation system detailed. But here's a solution for windows XP, Vista and 7

Windows XP:
Open My Computer .
In the My Computer window, go to the following path
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\
Delete the folder called "kinoma"

Then go to the following path:

C:\Documents and Settings\"your user name"\Local Settings\Application Data \
Delete the folder called "kinoma"
Delete the "Sony Corporation" folder

Windows Vista® and Windows® 7 operating system operating systems:

Open Computer on your Desktop

Go to the following path:

C:\ProgramData\
Delete the folder called "kinoma"

Now go to this path:
C:\Users\"your username"\AppData folder\Local\
Delete the folder called "kinoma"
Delete the folder called "Sony Corporation"

GoodLuck!

Error 7 i cant open facebook

This error is most likely due to a problem with the Application folder on your computer during the installation process.

To resolve this issue, delete the Application folder, then try installing again. Follow these steps (for Windows):
  1. Go to the Start menu > Run.
  2. Enter one of the following commands in the text field, depending on your operating system.
    • Windows XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome
    • Windows Vista: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome
  3. Click OK.
  4. Delete the Application folder. If you're having difficulty deleting this folder, check for active Google Chrome processes on your computer and end them. Here are a few ways to locate and shut down these processes:
    • Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on your keyboard and click Task Manager. Click the Processes tab and end every process that includes "google" or "chrome" in its name.
    • Download a third-party program called Process Explorer at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx. Use its Find menu to search for "Chrome/Application," then end all resulting processes.
Now try deleting the Application folder again.
  5. Once the Application folder is deleted, try installing Google Chrome again.

Well, I am new to fixya, so please don't forget to appreciate the solution.

Thanks.

Where can I find directions for removing 2 Windows 7 installations. This is because the installation did not go well, and in each attempt, Windows tried to install. I now have 2 working and a partial...

Did you install to a separate "partition" of the disk-space, or just to a different "folder" on the 'C:' drive. For comparison, Windows NT installed to the 'C:\WINNT' folder, and, by default, Windows XP/Vista/7 install to the 'C:\WINDOWS' folder.

If you installed to a different folder, open My Computer.
Open the 'C:' drive.
Click on that folder-name.
Hold down the SHIFT key and press the DELETE key.
Say 'yes' to confirm that you want to delete the folder, thereby_bypassing_ moving the folder into your 'Recycle Bin'.

If you installed to a different partition, open "Disk Management (local)",
select the partition, and either DELETE or FORMAT the partition.

Open the outlook, disable the lan connection or you can set the Outlook to Offline (click File > Work Offline, but don't forget to re-set it online after you are done). After you are done, right-click the file to be deleted while you press the Shift Key on the keyboard and select "Delete".

If the first step doesn't work, then move it to another folder (create a new folder) and delete the folder after you are done. (don't forget to do this in Offline mode or with disabled lan).

Again, you can try deleting the file directly from the folder. Open My computer, go to C drive as shown below (Note: User Name = Your current username on your computer):
Close the outlook and do this;

1. Windows xp:
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

2. Windows Vista/7
C:\C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
Locate the file name "outlook", must be the largest file, delete it and open your outlook. All the inbox will re-sync with your email, but your problem will be fixed.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Rename user folder

You cannot rename the user folder because it is a system folder.

You can go to user accounts in control panel and rename the user account from the 'old name' to new name'. Unfortunately this will be purely cosmetic, the account will still be seen by the system with 'old name'.

The only efficient solution is going into control panel/accounts and creating an new account with 'new name'. Then you transfer all data to 'new name' account and delete the old account.
