Olympus DS 30 Handheld Digital Voice Recorder: screen problem
Hi. I just purchased my Olympus DS 30 and find the LCD screen virtually impossible to read. All the choices and icons appear (dimly) in see-through layers, so I'm basically seeing everything at once, with no ability to look at any one thing at one time. The manual is no help, and not just because it directs the reader to pages where the required information is nonexistent. Help??

The recorder should be formatted only by using the internal FORMAT function found in the Menu. Formatting using the computer may corrupt system files needed to run the recorder and may delete the Voice Guide Data and Audible system files, so computer formatting is not recommended. When the recorder is connected to a computer, individual files can be deleted using My Computer without negative effects.after you format the unit this is how needs t

on your computer, you will need some sort of media recovery software. also go to options under the tools menu and uncheck delete after transfer to turn off deletion. this is usually best since you can delete the files through the recorder by the erase button
I don't think the serial number is required to install the software. I didn't see DS-30 information on the Olympus website. DS-40 was the closest one. No information was availbable regarding serial numbers.
I have a VN-4100PC and don't recall being asked for a serial number. The software is the same thing for all Olympus players.
