If I connect my 30 gig iPod to the DNX7100 with the yellow and white iPod connections I get nothing.  When I also connect the USB cable I get the iPod menu and all the song listings but my music videos don't show, only the sound from the video.

have almost same problem. my controls on screen do not display nor work

  • Anonymous Nov 09, 2008

I have the same exact problem... The Ipod Source says "not connected"...
but If I click on USB Source... It reads the ipod like its some sort f USB storage device...

What is the solution?  I've already upgraded to the latest Kenwood DNX7100 firmware - but the problems still exist.

The USB source is not for Ipods, from what I understand. The Ipod needs to be connected with the Ipod cable, $50 or so. I think it is a high speed connection.

RCA cable should only be sending sound through the headphone jack to the amp not files. This would then be selectable through an AV or external source rather than USB or iPod option

My kenwood KDC-MP342U stopped reading my ipod i just got it within the past two weeks and it was working fine and the all of a sudden when i pluggedd my ipod in all it says is reading. i have tried to use...

I had the same problem with my first gen ipod touch. The reset button is on the front panel, between the Fast Forward button and the "1" button. Push it with a pen or something with the unit turned on. It will go dark then come back. You'll have to set up your preamp and other stuff again. I also now push the eject button before removing my ipod or USB thumb drives. The display will flash "remove". I guess this does some handshaking that cleans things up before removal.

No sound on ddx 514 kenwwod..when hooked up ipod to usb??

This is a faily simple fix. First of all, this USB will not be able to playback audio from an iPod or iPhone without using the correct cable. The cable needed has both USB and an audio plug on it. Here is a link to the Kenwood cable you will need:

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/Accessories/KCA-iP200

If you would like playback of iPod video, you will need this cable:

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/Accessories/KCA-iP301V

A local authorized Kenwood stereo dealer should have these in stock. I hope this information was helpful.
