To get WiFi working on your Nintendo Wii, first power on your console. Then select "Wii" in the bottom left corner. After doing this, select "Wii Settings". Next click on the right arrow to go to page two and then click on "Internet". Select "Connection 1 None" and click on "Wireless Connection". After this you should choose "Search for an access point" The Wii will then ask you to enter the WiFi password if you have a secured router. Save the changes and you should have internet on your Wii!
Sorry to hear your having problems with your wii. You can connect the wii via wifi or wired with an adapter. Check out Nintendo's tutorial for instructions on how to do this: http://us.wii.com/connect/ You basically goto: Wii Options at the bottom left corner of your home screen, then Wii Settings, Click the right arrow to goto the next page, Click Internet, Click Connection Settings, Click Connection 1, Click Wireless Connection. Click Search for an Access Point. Click OK to view the found access points. Select the Access point for your wireless internet, enter your encryption key, click Ok and then OK again to save settings, and then OK again to test the connection.
The error code 51330 means that the WiFi cannot get through to your Wii because of the security system you currently have installed on your router. WEP encrypted WiFi routers cannot connect with your Wii properly. To save you some time, I've found the exact link where Nintendo troubleshooting gives you detailed instructions in fixing this problem and getting your Wii to connect to your WiFi.
The wii has built in wifi so you dont actually need to buy anything for the console itself. What you would need to buy is a router that has wifi capability to connect the wii. If you want to do a wired setup youd need the USB-ethernet adapter. But without a wifi router broadcasting a signal you would not be able to connect to the internet in your own home with the wii.

first check that you have 4 remotes in play the remote for the mic will be the scroller and has to be used to join the band...second this may be unreliable since it came from another source but something to check a wifi connection is needed you dont have to play against someone online just be connected to wifi. hope these resolve your issues
If you havea WiFi router that you use for internet then you can do this very easily by adding your WiFi settings to Wii in settings. This will also allow you to get Wii software updates and use the Store where you can download games etc.
Your friend will also have to have a WiFi router in his home with internet access and he'll also have to add those settings to the Wii.
