Washer won't spin or drain. Model GLTF2940ES Frigidaire

Hi Friend, thank you for your question!

If your Frigidaire washer (GLTF2940ES) is not spinning, often it is because your washer cannot dispose of the water and detergent solution. Does your washer make a humming noise? If so, you may have a restriction in the drain line or a faulty pump. If not, your washer may be experiencing an issue with the control board not communicating correctly, faulty timer, or door lock assembly. I am fairly confident that an authorized service agent will be able to restore your appliance to its normal operating condition. You can often locate a qualified service technician on the manufacturer website.

Best regards! - Z

Won't spin

Hello fopdycke - Typically when a washer does not spin, it is because the unit cannot properly drain and dispose of the water and detergent solution. Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, the drainage pump or hose may be clogged and needs to be cleaned. If not, the washer may possibly be experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, timer, faulty pump or control board not communicating correctly. I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the washer to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.

Does not drain the clothes completely

Hello, welcome to fixya.

I would start by checking a couple of crucial factors.

Confirm your washer is indeed a Bosch WFL2060 before going forward.

1) Are you using "HE" detergent ? If yes, good, move to next question. If not, you must. The Bosch front load washer's will not function as was intended unless hi-efficiency (HE) detergent is used.

2) Have you checked your drain pump for obstruction or debris ? No, look below to see how.
If yes, will the unit drain and spin if empty of clothing ? If it drains but won't spin, ( or if it rotates in only one direction ) you likely have worn motor brushes.

To check the drain pump...

**Unplug the washer from the dryer or wall, or turn off the 30amp breaker at the home service panel...safety first**

1) Open the small square plastic door at the right bottom of the washer.

2) Via the small hose drain any access water from the pump...this is where a wet/dry shop-vac comes in handy, or a shallow pan with a few towels works as well.

3) Then turn the pump insert/button trap counter clock-wise and pull out. Clean the trap out thoroughly, and inspect inside the pump for any other foreign objects/obstructions.

Let me know how you make out, or if you require further assistance.

If this indeed solved your problem, whether it be the detergent ( have to use "HE" no exceptions ) or pump blockage, please take a moment to rate my solution.

If it is the other possible issue for not spinning, "motor brushes" check out my tip...

I have a Maytag "MTW5870TWO" washer that discharges the drain water at a rate faster than a 2" drain line can handle. I have removed and cleaned the drain line trap, snaked out the entire drain line...

I have the exact same problem. My husband has been looking for a reducer.
I read on the internet somewhere today, that maytag washers, have their drain hoses attached too low, and the drain hose needs to be raised above the washer. A cup hook, and a shoe string did the trick. It seemed to help on the medium wash load setting, but started overflowing at the end of the large load setting. My floor is ruined because of this.
What I have read about Maytag washers, I think I will just call it quits with this, and buy a Kenmore.
If someone comes up with a reducer, I would love to know about it.

I have a Maytag Neptune TL. The machine is working normally except it's not able to fully extract the water out of the clothes. When the full cycle is complete the clothes are still dripping wet. I have a...

We are talking about FAV6800A or FAV9800A TL correct?
If so you need these links the Service Manual and parts look up; here is the Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
If your machine completes the wash cycle with no error code such as ND (No Drain) and there is no visible water in the bottom of the wash basket when you remove your wash load then I would do this test.
Take the next wet wash load that is dripping wet and lets do a Quick Spin Test in Service Mode. During this test test the FAV6800A LED display model will step thru the RPM (revolutions per minute) or goal is to ensure the machine will spin the wash basket up through all Spin Cycle RPM ranges. Any RPM range above 99RPM’s will be shown with a (.) dot after the two numbers displayed i.e. 350RPM will show as 35. 550RPM will shoe 55. And so on.
I’m and owner of the FAV6800A and I’m not sure what the LCD display of the FAV9800A will display.
Enter into Service Mode;
Page 14 of the Service Manual; below I have cut and paste the instructions.

Enter / Exit Service Mode
To enter Service Mode press the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys (simultaneously) for three seconds or until the control beeps.
Now go to page 14 and enter this front panel key pad press to start a Quick Spin Test and see if the machine with that wet clothes load will spin the wash basket to 850RPM.
Quick Spin Test
While in Service Mode, press the Hand Wash
key to start a Quick Spin Test.
Quick Spin test steps are as follows:
1) Lock the lid.
2) Spin to index speed 90 rpm and hold for 60
seconds. Pump drains machine.
3) Spin to index speed 150 rpm and hold for 6
seconds.
4) Spin to index speed 350 rpm and hold for 6 seconds.
5) Spin to index speed 550 rpm and hold for 6 seconds.
6) Spin to index speed 700 rpm and hold for 6 seconds.
7) Spin to index speed 850 rpm and hold for 6 seconds.
Pump out.
8) Coast down to 0 rpm chimes 3 times.

Hit the Off button to get out of service mode.

If the machine spins the wash basket to 850 RPM then we need to start looking further. What are your results?

You can check the flow rate of the drain system by again entering Service Mode and turn the Drain Pump on in service mode. I would (hand fill) place 5 gallons of water in the machine and turn on the drain pump see page 16 for Board Output Test.

Enter Service Mode and press the Delicates key. You are now in Board Output Test now press the Presoak key and the Drain Pump will turn on. If your machine pumps out the 5 gallons of water in 60 seconds or less I would say your Sump Cap, drain line connection from Sump Cap to input to the Drain Pump, Drain Pump and discharge line are all working as designed. If the Machine takes greater then 60 seconds to dump the water then you need to start troubleshooting for a drain line restriction or Drain Pump issue…...Rich

Clothes are still soaking wet after spin cycle

But is the washer empty, if there is still some water in it, there could be something in the drain line,
if all the water is gone, then it sounds like the washer is not reaching the full speed of the spin cycle.

Unless someone can remove the drain line and check the pump, and check the clutch of the machine,
I am sorry to say you should call an appliance person and have them make a service call.

If you where to post the model # of the washer, someone could look at the manual of it and see
how the washer works and what the pump is. I hope it is a simple fix for you.

Front load washer doesn't spin

My Maytag® Neptune® washer filled with water, but it won't spin or drain-what now?

Start by making sure the machine is plugged into a live (working) electrical outlet. Then check the appropriate circuit breaker and reset it if necessary (or check the fuse if you have a fuse box).

Next, inspect the drain hoses and remove any kinks. Take a look at the drain, too - if it's clogged, call your usual drain service person.

Then close the washer door and firmly press the START/STOP button. In a few moments, after the door locks, the washer should begin to spin. (For your safety, the washer will not tumble or spin unless the door is closed and locked.)

If this doesn't work, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-688-9900 for toll-free assistance and service scheduling if necessary.
