Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a 42' Hitachi high def plasma (purchased 2004). It was jostled when setting up my dvd player - it did not smash to floor or anything just got jostled when the shelf dropped about an inch (slipped of the peg, but was only about an inch above peripherals. Now it will not turn on. No power at all. I did check, the outlet works. I even tried a new cord - that didn't work. So it is the tv. Any thoughts?

I have my Hitachi 42HDT79 42 in. Plasma Television on my wall and I have no voice, just a loud squeeing noice. It doesn't matter what volume its on.

It of course may be a audio problem in the set (main board) but is a box or anything external being used for sound on the set? Same problem with a DVD etc the only thing connected to the set?

I have a 42 inch Hitachi plasma tv that is making a very loud static noice coming from the internal speakers. It stays at a contstant very loud volume unless I completly mute the tv or turn the volum

Based on what you have tried if a buzz or loud static via the speakers you have something wrong in the audio output circuit of the set--problem here is that circuit may be part of the Main board that processes all signal---a look inside---following the speaker leads back would lead you to that board.

A simple thing to do to narrow it a little (you may have done this) is with sound all the way off put your ear to the internal speaker--hear anything at all like a deep hum?

Depending on age of set and cost of the board likely bad it may or may not be a do it yourself repair.

How do I connect the DVD player to a Panasonic High Def Plasma TV?

Choose connections on the Panasonic that match those on the player--

Do you have on the player Component outs(blue, green, red and 2 audio which are red and white? This ought to give you the best picture and sound.

Other inputs to the set must match the ones coming from the player--Most owner manuals have a lot of details here.

If the player has 1080 output hook to a similar input on the set.

Some advice here: make the connections between units with both turned off.

Connection for tv cable to hitachi 42" plasma Tv

there is no cable slot. the monitor is not a receiver. it has no tuner in it. it will need a signal from a tuner box. and that must be fed to the tv with an hdmi cable or a dvid cable for hd to work. see your manual for further information on cables. see your cable supplier for information on hd boxes available in your area. if you do not buy hd service, you will not get an hd signal. so you will see little difference from a non hd device. your dvd player may have hd capabilities, but will also need the same cable to deliver true hd signal.
the good news is that its fixable by using the right equipment.
good luck

It sounds like you arent using the correct ports for a HD tv or arent using a HD digital player or HD cable. Still having problem let me know but thats what it looks like to me. Do you have anything plugged into these ports from a HD device? DVD,Digital Recorder, etc?
