Re: Message SC101 Functional Problems
If the lamp does come on, remove the left side that holds the glass in place. It usually has the markings for where to place your origonal. Under it you will find a white strip of plastic tape, clean this. that is how it sets its lamp reference. This will usually work for a weak lamp.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SC101 is an exposure problem.check if at on of the machine exposure lamp is light in a few sec. then off then follow this as a guide
SC101 D Exposure LampError
At trigger on, thelamp was not detected on.
Exposure lampconnector defective
Dirty standard whiteplate
Dirty scanner mirroror scanner mirror out of position
SBU board defective
Try to reset the code, CLR modes key, then 1 then 0 then 7 and hold the red CLR/STOP key until your screen changes. press option 1 copy SP, then flip the red power switch on the left side of your machine. if you cant locate the switch unplug, but it is much better to use the switch
You can try to clear the code by pressing the yellow "clear modes" key, 1, 0, 7, then press and hold the red clear/stop key. Wait for the screen to change, then turn the machine off with the red rocker switch on the left side of the machine, turn back on, and see if that clears the code. If not, let me know what the code is for further assistance.
Open that cover and look in the frame of the machine for an opening. Then look on the upper cover. There is an interlock switch on the machine. The plastic tab on the upper cover often times breaks off and will not actuate the switch, giving you that message. You can fix it by gluing a paper clip onto the cover. Or call 1-800-835-6100 and order a new cover.
THIS MACHINE SHOULD HAVE 2 ON SWITCHES. ONE ON THE UPPER RIGHT WHICH ONLY TURNS THE LIGHTS OFF TO THE CONTROL PANEL.ON THE LOWER LEFT SIDE THERE SHOULD BE A RED SWITCH THAT IS THE MAIN POWER SWITCH.THE RED SWITCH IS THE ONE THAT RESETS CODES.
SC101 indicates and exposure lamp problem. To try and correct, turn OFF the copier and then unplug from the wall. Wait 10 seconds and plug it back into the wall, then turn on the copier. Watch to see if the exposure lamp comes on - lift the document handler if you want. If the exposure lamp is working correctly, the scanner will briefly move to the right and the light will turn on then off after it moves to the left.
SC101 can be caused by a dirty WHITE LEADING EDGE STRIP. This is located under the left side plastic strip that holds down the exposure glass on the left side. Remove the screws, and flip over the glass holder. Clean the white strip with glass cleaner, and reassemble. If SC101 reappears, the scanner drive pulley screws are loose or broken off. A service technician is required for this repair.
I'm not familiar with your exact model but for small ricohs....Sc101 means that the standard white level was not detected. When you first turn on your machine the scanner scans a white plate (you will find this plate under the glass or frame near the park position of the scanner (facing down towards the scanner). The scanner will try to take a quick scan of this white plate so it knows the difference between white and black. You will get this error if anything is preventing the scanner from seeing this plate (exposure lamp not working, Blocked scanner, or more likely a dirty white plate. Remove the glass, get a mirror and try to find the plate and then clean it with windex. When you turn on machine the scanner will try to scan this white plate( make sure scanner is not getting hung up on anything. For original size your machine may use paper size sensors that look like small black boxes with two black eyes (under the glass looking up towards the original) make sure these eyes are clean.
Regarding your doc feeder I need more info ( does it attempt to work, etc) describe what it does when you try to use it.
Red flashing light on '8BK' small black cartridge on left hand side.
If this indicates 'low ink' then it is not alerting me on the monitor. I think this is something different because my printing has been interrupted. Aileen
