Philco 38-2 art deco tube radio

I cant find any directions to hook it up. I was told that it works fine and when i plugged it in I did get a radio station, but very weak. How to hook up antenna? how long of an antenna? Just a link to a manual would be very helpful.

Hi sundancevic

These old sets work best with a long piece of wire, the longer it goes and the higher in the air you can get it the better signal. The best results are obtained with hooking up a decent earth against the aerial. get the best earth for the set by hammering a piece of copper pipe (or water pipe) into the ground, then connecting your earth wire to this. Just use thin hookup wire, is all that is requires. There is often a 2 wires hanging out the back of the chassis. The black/green one will always be the earth, the other, the aerial.
I found a picture of the chassis, notice the thin wire next to the power lead. This is where you will find the earth and Aerial connections.

What happens if I plug a 110v device into 220v outlet WITH adaptor

Is the adapter simply a plug adapter or does it step down the voltage? If it steps down the 22ovac to 110vac then the device should work fine. If it simply changes the plug to fit then you will fry the amp. What is the brand and model number of the adapter?

Does the Deco 340 Embroidery Machine use .ART or .EXP?

According to the manual for the Bernette Deco 340, the machine only reads .EXP+ files. ART files need to be converted to the EXP file type using the Bernina Embroider Software. (Even the designs on the Studio Bernina CD need the ART files converted to EXP.)

The manual is available from the Bernina support site: http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-5/Machines-en/bernette-deco-en . The direct link to the manual is http://www.bernina.com/getdoc/c6cc51e0-d5e9-4cb1-a7be-f164c0f4fdff/deco340_EN_GZD . (Note: you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to access the manual.)

I'm surprised that you were able to get any .art files to work until recently.

I hope this helps.

It's plugged in but will not power on

That thing has tubes and tubes are hard to find, first thing is to blow it out cause those tubes need air and dirt is the constant enemy,Built up dirt will kill them ,its a tube that isn't working and with out a tube tester it will be difficult. I would take to someone that is a old radio enthusist working on those things is a lost art and the tubes aren't made anymore so this one will be a challenge .The radio guy will help you out in those areas cause I bet he has a source, You might have to invest some time and money to get it to work, but the payback will be worth it

I cant find the tune up so what can i do ?

I doubt there is a tune up for the the handhelds if you can't find it i couldn't find it some radios you just can't tune iam sure there is a power pod for it but i don't think its going to make much diffrence for example iam running a cobra 19 dx 4 i did find the mods for it but no pod adjustments there were but
i was told not to adjust them because it just not worth the time not much diffrence. so they only adjustment was mod and spread some of the transmitt coils and i did get 2 watts out of the radio with a 15 watt swing . hand helds are for short range. If you have a external antenna hook up you could get more range that way hook it up to a mobile antenna check swrs though. hope this helped you.

I have the Philco suitcase Turntable CD player. Art No. 841.237. When I got it from my friend, she hadn't given me the ac adapter/power source. When I got it, I assumed she had given me the right one. I...

I don't know whether your philco is the same as my crosley, but I recently had an issue where the record player stopped turning and it bamboozled me to no end. After digging up the manual online, I found out that you had to lift up the tone arm and move it to the right (past the holding clip) until it clicked, and voila, the record player started spinning again.

I hope this helps!

I have a Connex 3300. I do not have original plug (power). however, I do have one that fits. I need confirmation this is the right plug. It is three wires. One black(neg.) and two red (positive). I...

The center wire doesn't do anything. Its the outer wires. You can get a standard CB plug with 2 wires that will work just fine. If that plug fits, I it will work. My concern would be if the pos and neg are the correct sides. It should be, But I wouldn't know unless I looked at it.

DO NOT HOOK the radio up with the power wires backwards. Or you will blow the polarity protection diodes. They are there to blow if the radio is hooked up backwards.

If you look at the plug. There is a side the goes to a point, and the other side is square. The black wire, Ground, should be on the side that goes to a point. If it does, then that plug is standard.

It's fine to use and hook up in the usual way. Do not hook up the center wire. It does nothing in the radio. You can clip it, and put a bit of shrink tube on the end as so it does not have a chance to short on anything.

If you are not sure about hooking this power cord to your connex, just go on ebay, and get a regualr CB power wire. They are cheap. It should only have 2 wires.

DOES THE BERNINA BERNETTE DECO 600 ACCEPT .ART EMBROIDERY DESIGNS SUCH AS I USE FOR MY ARTISTA 730E? ALSO, DOES BROTHER MAKE THE BERNINA BERNETTE DECO 600?

Not sure if you found anything out, but Deco 600 uses PES format only.
If you have the software (Deco Wizard) sometimes you can change it to PES and save the design.
Good luck

I recently bought an Avanti Art Deco 10 cup espresso machine and am disappointed that I cannot make HOT coffee with it. What can you suggest?

When the water boils in the bottom chamber the steam creates pressure and pushes the water through the grounds and into the top chamber. It's hard to imagine that the water going through the grounds is not close to boiling temperature unless you are using the coffee maker at high altitude where the temperature of boiling water would be lower.

Power supply

This unit takes a 12V 0.5A DC power supply. Your local Radio Shack sells this type of supply that will plug into the wall. You'll need to make sure that the other end will plug into the turntable, but for the supply, Radio Shack is probably the quickest way.
