KP-57WS500 My tv is turning off a few seconds after is turned on. The image is blur at the beginning untill it fades out totally and becomes black, remaining the sound. At the same time the red light on the front on the tv blinks all the time till tv goes off. Thanks for the help, Luiz Aramis Brazil TV TURNS OFF RIGHT AFTER IT IS TURNED ON. hOWEVER IF THE TV IS OFF OR LEFT UNPLUGGED FOR 3 - 4 DAYS, AND THEN TURNED BACK ON, THE TV WILL WORK. TV HOWEVER WILL NOT WTUN ON AGAIN IF IT IS TURNED OFF AND TURN BACK ON ON THE SAME DAY.

    Thanks for the advise.

A friend of mine advised me to open the TV, blow off the dust with air cannister you use to clean the computers, and at the same time lightly vacum the inside of the TV circuits taking care not to disturb wiring placement and being careful, it being high voltage. He said those dust particles sometimes create statics thereby influencing current flow and causing those problems.

So that I did, and my TV now works.

Thanks for the other advise though.

I am having exactly the same problem as Clancefn's. I have not taken any steps to rectify the problem. My question to clancefn's if he did any thing other than the air spray? CLG

The fault can be the high voltage multiplier, and or the main power supply, and or the CRT emission is very weak. It is possible to have faults in all these areas at the same time. As the TV ages and with use, various parts will wear out.

The cost to service this is usually fairly expensive. I would be seriously looking for a new TV set. You can take the set in for an extimate just to see what it will cost.

Find the vertical IC and check for very small cracks on the solder joints of its pins and resolder (approx. 10 Pins). Also check in the same area for a 1 micro farad at 50 vdc capacitor that goes bad and replace it.

Kp 61HS30 TV Had the tv since 2002. been a great tv. Just recently it started making a noise when you turn it on. Noise fades away after about 10 seconds. Noise kind of sounds like a dvd player trying...

If you locate the audio board, check for dried up electrolytic capacitors and dry joints around the output IC itself.
That should fix your fault.

I power on tv and it shuts down after few seconds

There is a high voltage leak here, the reason it closes down is the protection mechanism isw trying to prevent more damage. better to turn it off and have it repaired before it catches fire or blows all the boards and becomes totally useless or beyond repair.

Sorry this isnt what you wanted hear but there is a safeyty factor involved here.

After an hour of watching Tv the screen flickers and loses color, green lines come on the screen and the images become blurred/wobble. I can turn tv off for 15 mins and then it comes back fine, for another...

It could be the Digital board. It does most of the video processing before being sent to the Optical Engine. This is a expensive board and I recommend to call a professional to be sure.
Hope this helps,

TV picture fades, then shuts off

There are some components in the scan amplifiers, and or the power supply area that have become unstable. This can happen with age and use. It is impossible to make an accurate assessment without actually troubleshooting the set.

You need an experienced TV service tech that is strong on troubleshooting, has the service manuals, and has the proper set-up to work on your set. I would recommend the factory service rather than an independent service tech unless you know for sure that the independent service tech can handle this type of repair.

Considering the age of the model of set that you have, I would be looking at replacing it rather than fixing it. Because of the age of the set the reliability will be decreased.

Black box on screen

On your remote should be a button called TV caption or text. Turn off the closed caption as someone hit it and turned it on by accident. If its not on your remote, then it is in the menu. Good Luck Ps Please dont forget to rate this thread.

Picture faded to black, came back, faded again and had stayed black.

It seems your set has a loose conection in the high voltage circuits,in fact by now it should have many loose conections in different areas like the power supply and the horizontal deflection circuits,if you are familiar with tv service you can use the information as the first step to take, some of the loose conections are hard to see even for the trained technician but the one giving you this problem should not be hard to see,if you are not too familiar with tv service be safe and call for assistance from a servicer a least for an estimate.
