Whirlpool Duet Sport Front Load - Spin Cycle Noise

My Duet Sport is making a horrible clanking noise on the spin cycle. I suspect some change or a button or something has worked its way between the drum and the housing. I have removed the top cover and can't see anything obvious that might be causing the noise. How do I open it up to find the source? I don't want to remove more parts than I have to!

I have the exact same problem with my washer. The drum inside almost looks like it is loose because it is moving back and forth as well as spinning. Making a horrible racket in the rince/ spin cycle. Not sure of the model number but I know it is a front loading whirlpool duet that I bought in 2001. Just started making the racket recently. Going to go around back and see if anything is loose when I get home from work today. Don't really think the offered solution is my problem because it has been working fine for years.

I had the same problem but I was able to fix, by adding some rubber to the drain hose clamps located on top of the electronics box inside the back on the bottom left. No more noise!

Hope this helps!!

Had one do this. Turn machine around look at bottom two corners. Machine comes with metal rods to stabilize drum during shipping. Installer forgot to pull those out on mine. Once I removed them noise quit.

Loud clanking noise during spin cycle. Will not

If it is a front loader, then remove the rear panel, remove the belt, and soin drum by hand, if it feels rough, or is noisy and rumbling, then the main drum bearings have failed.
This is a major repair.

Whirlpool Duet Sport not running it makes clicks and it grinds

A common problem with noises from washing machines has been the under wire that may come out of small clothes. In the washer they can get stuck in one of the inner basket holes and make a scrapping noise, they can actually make there way into the pump and jam the pump, or make a terrible noise when the pump is running. Grab a flash light and have a peek inside the washer for this. Front load washers seem very common to this happen! If the tiny cloth is showing signs of fraying, may be best not to wash it in the washing machine, replace the cloth.=======
It's noisy Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
