Thanks for that. Its just that some one said it had to do with how much the mother bord could handle? I have no clue what that means?? Does any internal hard drive fit in any laptop. Or will I have to get a special size/brand for this laptop? Thanks again for all your help :)

Yes this is true but the only limits will be

1.the file format uesd FAT32 or NFTS vs OS ie ...98,XP,Vista,as each OS has its own imposed limits ,
2.motherboard speeds and connection types for Hdd's built into your machines, max speed of data transfer,ie,EIDE,ATA,SATA

If you have good RAM and MB too, then is should .perform well,
Macs and pC and Laptops all have hdds, the diierences are there speeds andd storage capacities.

Any questions please ask ,thanks Misterdj

There is no max size when it comes to hard drives. Go as big as you want or can get.

Max hard drive size for Toshiba Satellite 2430-S255

Unless you are running Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98 and your drive format is FAT16/32 and not NTFS, there should not be any problem with a high capacity drive. Don't make the HDD size too big: it may be costly. If you have money to burn get two drives, one internal system disk, and the other an external storage/ backup drive.

What size hard drive will work with a compaq nx9010

I could be wrong but I thought that the threshold is determined by WIndows and that would be 2TB. What is the error message? Have you tried to install the OS?

Upgrade this notebook

Hi,
Yes you can upgrade that notebook.

The notebook is sold with 1GB DDR SDRAM which is upgradable to 2GB RAM, 2 slots 1x1GB in each slot.

The hard drive is usually 120GB SATA which you can put any drive in up to 320GB or 500GB (if you can get on of that size)

The processor is a core duo. It is upgradable but i wouldn't bother with that as 1.6GHz is more than sufficient.

Regards.

S6120 didn't take 250GB memory

hi Barch

every processor has three types of buses.
  1. address bus
  2. data bus
  3. control bus
The size of address bus is responsible for the number of memory locations a processor can access.

The size of address bus is fixed for each processor.

Your processor can address that many memory locations only through its address bus.

That is why anything more than the limit of memory location is waste.

Thank You

Thinkpad T42 Hard Disk problem

Hello.

It seems the hard disk size will max out at 80GB with a 5,400 RPM speed according to IBM.

Im sorry to say that this means that it will not support a 120Gb hard drive.

Pp1020 harddrive

Hi doug160451,
Could you please post the specifications of your laptop, but if your laptop originally came with a 5 Gb Hard Drive then chances are it would be an old laptop and you would do better upgrading to a new laptop than go through the problems associated with upgrading only your hard drive.
Cheers
