Remove hearing impaired text from screen

When we started using our brand new KDL-46S3000, it always has hearing impaired TEXT on the screen. The manual that came with out unit is in Spanish, we do not see any instructions in it for starting or stopping TEXT.

If you are using a cable box, then the closed captioning is turned on & off with the cable box, not with the TV remote.

I have an Insignia Flat screen. For some reason the words being spoken on the TV show are now being typed at the bottom of the screen. Can you please tell me how to stop this?

This is called CLOSED CAPTIONING and is normally just for the hearing impaired.

It can be turned on and off with either the remote control or through the TV's onscreen menu.

Each model of TV is a little bit different, but look for a button on the remote control called CC, or INFO, or DISPLAY. If you want, you can just try pressing each of them until you see CC1 OFF, or TEXT OFF, or DISPLAY OFF come up on the screen text, then just leave it and the text should disappear on its own.

Or if that does not work, go into the AUDIO OPTIONS of your TV's menu and turn off the closed captioning feature from there.

Better yet, just go into your TV's User's Manual and check out how to turn off Closed Captioning in there, and it should tell you exactly what buttons to press to turn it off.

If you can't find it yourself, just comment back here to this page and tell me the model number of your tv and I will try to look it up for you.

Thank you very much and good luck.

Hello, I have problem with Sony KDL-32U2000. Text doesn't work anymore. It is not kind of problem when I on some channels get message "no text available". When I push green text button on remote...

Just a guess, I suspect it is because you are now on the freeview channels which don't carry text in the same way. Has it by any chance happened since analogue transmissions ceased in your area?

These new LCD televisions have a number of display modes, some which magnify and crop the video. You must have one of the magnification modes on, something called "wide zoom". As a result, some of the text is getting cropped because the whole picture is actually cropped (you just didn't notice). Use your remote and try changing the display mode. You should be able to get to "normal" and then basic wide (not wide zoom). Try it out. :-)
