Question about Panasonic SC-PM19 CD Shelf System
All 5 disks are showing NO DISK message when loaded and turned on. The disks are new so its not that. What can I do to fix it?
There is nothing an end user can do to fix this unit except to try and run a lens cleaning disc thru it. If cleaning the lens helps, you have just dodged a bullet. It says "no disc" because the laser pick up can't see, it is blind. It can't read any disc's so it says "no disc" even if there is one in it. I work at a Panasonic authorized service center and have repaired this exact model many times. The repair will cost about $125 or more to replace the laser. This is due to the high cost of the laser pick up.
Unless this is under the warranty, you really should just get a new one. This model of Panasonic normally has an issue with the trays getting jammed and are a technicians nightmare to repair. So, I don't really like to see them in my shop. It was a very bad design for Panasonic, they have had more trouble with the cd mech in this model than any other cd mech I have seen for them in the last 17 years I have been repairing them.
I am sorry to give such bad news, but it really is true. If I can be any further help, please feel free to let me know.

Ummm i hate to say this but it is the disks
not too long ago found out the manufactures are using a new disk format makeing old players obsolite
this is counter piracy there is nothing really wrong with your player your just using new disks with new setup format
you will still have to go out and buy a new player for your entertainment
i bought a new player 8 months ago it played all old disks but when i bought a new movie a month ago it wouldnt play found out that the player and disks were no longer compatible with each other so i had to buy a new player things are now back to normal
