When the refrigerator is not cooling but the freezer compartment is cold, this is usually the result of a defrost problem.

Freezer working but no cold air to refrig.

check the damper vent door located behind a plastic cover between the freezer and refrige compartments, also make sure the evaporator fan is operating to blow cold air through this door,if the door isnt open, then either its frozen shut due to moisture or the motor that controls it is bad

Can't change temperature

If the freezer is staying cold it sounds like a defrost system problem. A bad timer, heater or thermostat can cause frost to build up on the coils and block air flow to the refrig side. Check out ACMEHowTo.com for troubleshooting the defroster problem

Jenn-Air JFC2089H Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator. One month ago the water tap stopped working then I noticied that the top doors to refrigerator would not reliably close like they used to. Last...

The water could have been frozen in the door and melted when your fridge warmed up.

The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

The piece that connects the vertical hinge to the door is broken.

Try partsdirect.com they have one of the best parts resources available. you will need your complete model number off of the inside of the unit it is located either on the eiling or right hand wall of the refrig section. thx Peyton

Icemaker

You might have a frozen line. Also and this seems more important to you its prob to cold, Trust me to cold of a refrig will cause hollow ice cubes first leading to a frozen line. Clean your coils, if you have another refrig empty out into that, unplug it leave doors open a couple days. If you can get to water line use a hair dryer from a distance defrost line, turn down freezer half knotch 1 full one at maximum. should fix issues, especially if filter already changed. If this all check prob a clogged line, not just frozen.

You have a control board issue and should call out a tech. to do the repair. If your still with in your 1st year of purchase then Whirlpool should pick up the charges of part and labor. The tech. will need to be Whirlpool warrenty certified.
