A new telescope has a rubber piece on the end with screws cant see through is it supposed to be removed ?

That is the end with the MIRROR! Turn it around-- the focuser is on the UP end of the telescope and the PICTURE that Fixya uses (above) is ALSO mounted upside down! The scope above is pointed at the ground!

Many beginners mount the scope backwards.

This is going to be very difficult to replace. However you can try contacting this company to see if they can order the part? Tasco does not sell replacement parts directly to the public.

One side has black cover over lens does that stay on.

Remove the lens cap. The eyepieces go on the small end of the telescope.

How do you remove the dust cover-- model40-114675 tasco luminova

Believe it or not the PICTURE in your question shows the scope mounted UPSIDE DOWN. Guess Fixya does not know which way to point it!

Your scope should be setup like this picture on the Meade manual web site:

http://www.meade.com/manuals/TelescopeManuals/Reflectors/062002Jupiter114EQ-D.pdf

Notice both the focuser and the finder scope are on the end of the scope POINTING UP toward the sky. The lens cap simple pops off or unscrews.

Replacement parts for Tasco binoculars

You'll need to measure your eyepiece in "mm". Also determine if your eyepiece has an outer ring the eyepiece will slip over. You can find eyecups/guards on Ebay. Search under Binocular Eyecup or Binocular Eye Guard. There are also eyecups under "rubber eyecups/rubber eyeguards" but alot of these are for Microscopes and may not fit. You will need to pay close attention to the mounting type and measurements.

Got a Tasco 60 x 700 telescope and can't see anything.

Your small telescope will never get much over 100 power-- sorry. So only use the lowest magnification eyepieces (those have the LARGEST number printed on them)-- try for the moon first-- and practice focusing the telescope.

Missing parts ? re Tasco 302048

Probably -- the 4mm gives too much magnification for you telescope-- difficult to focus or find thing in the sky-- you should also have had an eyepiece somewhere between 17mm and 24mm for lower power viewing.

It is very difficult to align a straight telescope on small objects like stars and planets. The moon is an easy target, try locating it 1st
