Question about Akai Projection Televisions

3 Answers

The DVD player on my AKAI CFTD2085 model TV won't read a DVD, it just makes a whirring noise. I tried to connect another DVD to the TV via the inputs (yellow, red, white) in the back. The DVD player works but there is a buzzing side noise along with the regular audio. I've tried turning them on/off, disconnecting/reconnecting the leads, pressing the 369 keys, etc. Is there a way to get rid of the side noise?

I should have stated that there's three issues in one: 1) what could be causing the TV DVD player to make the whirring noise? 2) the manual for the unit mentioned attaching a VCR player but not a DVD so is it not recommended? and 3) if it's not the RCA (which is new), what would be another probable cause? Thanks!

Try increasing the volume level from your other DVD player.
Do you have that buzzing noise when watching any other video from cable or satellite?

How do I get the TV to show DVD's from the attached DVD player? I have a model 27V512T or where can I buy a manual.

Hey Don, You must connect the dvd player and the tv together via the Composite connections. Your tv should have three rca connectors on the front. They be red, yellow and white. Connect the same colors to the back of your dvd player and you'll be in business.

Akai projection tv has static in it but it goes in and out with the static sound and picture

If it does not do it via the rear audio and video jacks (a DVD etc) problem may be a bad tuner or even a bad connection on the cable wire or fitting at rear of set--move the cables at connection points with set on to see if a reaction.

If not from DVD etc there is a way around this issue.

Some dvd players do not have the switching line fro your tv to automatically select scart input but you will be able to select via the tv remote if there are no buttons marked av it can be an oblong with an arrow pointing inwards or you may have to select via the source menu on the tv if you have your original handbook it will give a helpline number for Asda.SUPER8.

TV has picture but no sound

Manufacturer and model number of TV would be helpful for maximum assistance.
What type of cable is connecting your sat box/cable box/dvd player/etc to your TV?

If it is via a red/green/blue cable, make sure you also have an additional red and white audio cable connected, and select YPbPr (or component audio) in your TV's menu

If it is via an HDMI cable, go to your tv manufacturer's website and get a firmware upgrade for your TV (if TV has a USB port).

Try using different inputs besides the RF input. Connect your PS2 and DVD player using component inputs. With two component inputs, there's no reason in the world not to do this.

Re; my Vizio P42HDTV... when I hook up my DVD player to the set via HDMI cable and then set the input mode on the set to HDMI, all I have is a black screen? My DVD player lights up showing a good...

First, try another set of connections, S-Video or Component to make sure you have signal. That narrows your problem range just to the HDMI links,

Next, check for an ouput setup on the DVD to make sure you are feeding the HDMI output.

Then, Check the TV setup to make sure the input is turned on, Sometimes you have to make an input or output active before you can use it. This is a power, circuitry and noise related design issue.

Finally, try another HDMI cable.
