2-Select the paper size from the menu shown.
3-Now press the start button. No caution will appear.Next time use the same procedure for making copies.

Due to the fact you just got this Printer as new then you should be covered by warranty and the best would be to have someone from Xerox to have a look at it if the message continues.
If the solution below does not work you can attempt a firmware upgrade. You should be able to download firmware and instructions from HERE

To try solving the error: CAUTION: The following solution will put the printer in the Diagnostics mode and is only valid for this problem. Follow the steps carefully; any deviation from the process can cause other settings to be changed and / or render the machine inoperable.
If at any time it is necessary to cancel the procedure and start again with step 1, press the [Stop] button four times.
NOTE: This procedure will delete all pending jobs that have been sent to the machine.
To reset the Fuser error:
(Click on one of the following links to jump to the corresponding section.)
  • To reset the Fuser error for the Phaser 3100MFP / S
    1. Press the [Down] arrow (Menu) button on the Control Panel.
    2. Press the asterisk [*] button.
    3. Press the pound [#] button.
    4. Press the [OK] button.
    5. Press the [1] button. ("00100001" changes to "10100001" at SOS1)
    6. Press the [OK] button.
    7. Press the [Stop] button.
    8. Press the [Down] arrow (Menu) button.
    9. Press the pound [#] button.
    10. Press the [Down] arrow (Menu) button until "T>>Printer" is selected.
    11. Press the [OK] button.
    12. Power the machine off, and then power the machine on.
    13. Press the [Down] arrow (Menu) button.
    14. Press the asterisk [*] button.
    15. Press the pound [#] button.
    16. Press the [OK] button.
    17. Press the zero [0] button. ("10100001" changes back to "00100001" at SOS1)
    18. Press the [OK] button.
    19. Press the [Stop] button.
    20. Make a copy to check machine operation.

Solution one: Check the scanner light Make a color copy of any document by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel. While the product is making the copy, lift the scanner lid slightly to see if the scanner light is visible. CAUTION: Do not look directly at the light. It is not necessary to completely open the lid to see the light.
  • If the scanner mechanism moves across the scan bed, but the light is not lit, proceed to Solution six: Service the product .
  • If the light is lit, proceed to the next solution.
Solution two: Check operating conditions Extreme temperatures can affect the operation of the product. Make sure the operating conditions match those recommended in the User Guide provided with the product. Solution three: Check the power connections
  1. Make sure that the part number on the power supply matches the part number listed in the User Guide .
  2. Disconnect the power cord from any power strips or surge suppressors, and then plug it directly into a wall outlet.
  3. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
    • If the copy job is successful, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
      NOTE: Power strips and surge suppressors can sometimes prevent enough voltage from reaching the product.
  4. If the error message displays again, temporarily move the product to a different room, or plug the power cord into a different wall outlet.
  5. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
    • If the copy job is successful, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

3. Use arrows to change paper size from automatic to whatever size you are looking for.

Lean the rollers in the automatic document feeder (ADF)
  1. Remove the document feeder tray from the product by gently pulling it.
  2. Lift the cover of the automatic document feeder by pulling it outward.
  3. Gently clean the rollers with a very damp cloth ansd a dab of dish detergent.
  4. Close the cover of the automatic document feeder, and then reattach the document feeder tray.

Issue
The message 'Scanner failure, Power off and on' displays on the control panel of the product.
This error usually occurs when trying to scan, to make copies, or during the product start up.
Try the solutions in this document until the issue is resolved. It is not necessary to continue to the next solution if one solution resolves the issue.
Solution one: Check the scanner light
Make a color copy of any document by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the control panel. While the product is making the copy, slightly lift the scanner lid to see if the scanner light is visible.
CAUTION: Do not look directly at the light. It is not necessary to completely open the lid to see the light.
If the scanner mechanism moves across the scan bed, but the light is not lit, click here to service the product .
