Question about Samsung RS2578BB Side by Side Refrigerator

Frig not cooling properly, water reservoir freezes

I have a samsung RS2577SL side by side with problems. The first sign of trouble was when the water was not coming out of the dispenser. Apparently the water reservoir behind the thaw/crisper drawer is freezing up. The second sign of trouble was when the milk kept going bad. Everything worked fine for 3 years, and about 2 months AFTER our warranty expired we started having these problems. We must be having trouble with the temperature, but when the serviceman measured the temp it was fine. So maybe it is wildly fluctuating as others have posted in their complaints. The service guy from best buy came out and replaced the solenoid valve for the water, but that wasn't the problem. He left and we tried to thaw out the reservoir with a hair drier until water started coming out of the dispenser. That worked for a few days but it froze up again. Now we have no water and our milk keeps going bad.

I find the samsung parts .com web site lowsy! There is just a random list of parts and many don't have any detailed description at all.

It is safe to say that we are very UNHAPPY with our Samsung refrigerator!

Sounds like your evaporator coil fan (freezer fan) is broke or the thermostatic control valve located on the refridgerator side is broke.
Check the fan by opening the freezer door, and reach all the way to the back of the freezer, if you can feel cold air blowing on your hand and hear a fan blowing it's OK, (but if you can't replace the fan.) If the fan is good replace the thermosatic control valve.

Is the compressor running? If so, feel the discharge line is the line cold? If not the unit is probably out of Freon, which means it will have a leak somewhere in the system.

Too cold in fridge if it is freezing is your milk or other items freezing. Check temp in fridge with a good thermometer.

Frig Freezing EVERYTHING!

Your refrigerator has electronic dampers that may be only stuck. I think it would not hurt to defrost the refrigerator and lets have a look at those damper motors and see if they are responding to your control settings. Let me know, Sea Breeze

That just worked for me too. Hold the power freeze and power cool buttons down at the same time and it will reset it after a power surge. All I had working was a light inside the door and a blinking green light on the display panel.

Samsung side-by-side refrig is not staying cold

Look for signs of frost build up on back freezer panel. If there is build up then it has a defrost problem. I haven't had much experience with samsung but I beleive it has a fuse in the defrost circuit on the evaporator and that may be the defrost problem.
