Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. In order to get @ the belt on the Bissell, there should be screws, levers, or clips to remove the bottom plate and either the bottom plate will come off of the top cover will come off depending on if it is an older or newer model #. Also you can refer to the Bissell owner’s manual trouble shooting manual for tips on changing the belt as well. If not you can get an owner’s manual from the Bissell factory website or phone # listed below. If you have further questions please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area, or contact the Hoover website and or the cust serv phone # @ Hoover listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Brush roller not spinning. belt, spindle okay. roller taken out and cleaned, no thread. replaced but no dice. ???

Use only BISSELL Style 10 Replacement Belts (#32074) in your BISSELL PowerForce Bagless.
  1. Unplug cleaner from electrical outlet.
  2. With Rotating Floor Brush removed from vacuum cleaner, grasp old Drive Belt and remove from Motor Pulley. Discard old Drive Belt.
  3. Place new Drive Belt over Motor Pulley and stretch other end over Rotating Floor Brush in the space between the bristles.
  4. Place ends of Rotating Floor Brush down into slots on sides as shown.
  5. Turn Rotating Floor Brush by hand several times in the direction of Motor Pulley. If properly installed, Drive Belt will center itself on Rotating Brush.
  6. Reposition Brush Cover and snap back into place. Check to be sure all three latches are secured.
  7. When you turn on the vacuum, do you see the motor that spins the belt spinning at the bottom? If not, it sounds like you may have a burned out motor.

Rug Beater isn't rotating during use

This defintiely sounds like your belt has broken or slipped off the motor pulley. The brushes on your vacuum are driven by a belt that attaches to the motor shaft on one end, and the roller brush on the other end.

If you really do have the Bissell 6594 model that you posted this repair under, then to check your belt, simply turn the vacuum upside down, and remove the four screws from the plate that covers the brushes. The bottom plate will then lift off, and you will have access to the brush and belt area of your machine.

You'll probably notice that the belt is either split completely, or is stretched out, and fallen off the motor shaft. Even if the belt is still completely circular, it may be a good idea to go ahead and replace the belt anyway. We recommend replacing the belt on your vacuum every 6 months even if they don't break, as they don't perform nearly as well when the machine has a fresh, tight belt on it.

The model 6594 uses the Bissell Style 7,9,10, etc. belt. It's the most popular Bissell belt on the market. If you don't already have a new belt handy, here's a link to your belt on our website if you need to purchase one:
Bissell Style 7/9/10/12/14/16 Upright Vacuum Cleaner Belts (2 Pack), Part Number 32074

Here's link to the Bissell Owners Manual for your model that will walk you through step by step how to replace the belt on your machine:

I hope that this was helpful. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to use the clarification request form here on Fixya, and I'll be happy to answer any of your follow up questions.

If this was helpful, please be so kind and rate the repair, or leave feedback, this is greatly appreciated by the Fixya community when a helpful answer is written.

Bissell roller question

You need to replace the brush roll, part # 2032013, I would also put a new belt on as well, 2031093, style 7 belt.
Most vacuum repair shops should have these or can get them for you.

Bissel Cleanview II (bagless 12 amp)

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

What it sounds like is that your belt has either broken, or has been stretched to a point where the brushes won't spin. What you'll need to do is turn the vacuum cleaner upside down and turn on the vacuum. Are your brushes spinning at all? If your brushes are spinning, when you put the machine on the carpet, does the brush stop spinning, or slow down noticeably?

If either one of these happen, you'll need to replace the belt. Most Bissell uprights will use Bissell Style 7,9, and 10 belt (3 styles, 1 belt). The best way for you to find out what belt your machine takes, is to refer to your owners manual. You may also email me your model number, and I'd be happy to ship you the correct belt.
http://www.bissell.com/images/UserGuides/PT.pdf

The instructions on how to replace the belt are also diagrammed and explained at the above link.
There is also a troubleshooting page on page 14.

Please email me if you have any further questions, I'd be happy to answer any question you may come across.

I have a bissell 7.5poweramp uprite vacuum with a broken belt for the brush. What size belt would i need to fix this?

Not sure with having the model number, there may be a number on the belt, like style 7 etc. If no number, get me the model number and I can find out.

Bissell power force

turn vac over, take of the access plate covering the brush roll, may be 2 to 4 screw. Then you can get to the brush roll and belt. It uses a Bissell Style 7 belt.

Brush is not rotating.

Turn the vac over, remove the access plate, covering the brush roll, 2 to 4 screws. Brush roll part number is 2032032if you need it, belt is a Bissell Style 7. While you have the brush roll off, check in dirt inlet to see if it is clogged, also check the hose to see if it is clogged. You won't feel suction at the bag tube, it has to have a bag on it and the lid closed before it will create suction.
