Put new batteries in the thermostat. Make sure that the switch that power the furnace is in the "on" position. Sometimes people mistake that switch for a light switch and turn it off.

There is no display on the thermostat which prevents me from turning on the heater.

assuming this is a central air unit, you have lost power to the heater giving you a blank display on the thermostat. Also, some thermostats require batteries for the display to work.

The air conditioner unit is not coming on. had message to change batteries in wall control changed batteries but unit will not come on Kelvinator DS3BC

Hi, Have you checked to see if there is power to this unit? I have not looked up the type of system you have, wall/window unit, central split system and so on. If the thermostat display said weak batteries and you installed them, it should start if it is programmed properly. If it is, the next step is to determine if it has power. If it does and will not start, we need to troubleshoot further into it. Get back to me on this. Let me know the type system you have. Thank you,
