Maytag mbb2256gew Is 50oz. r134-a the correct charge?

I found and repaired leak on my fridge and pulled vac. to 430 microns. The label in the fridge says 50 oz for the charge. i started charging unit. I 've put in 36 oz and unit appears to be tripping out on amps.I'm pulling 4.7 to 5 amps, fridge is cooling down. I'm used to r-12 and r134 pressures are new to me. Am i putting way too much charge in the unit?     Joe

How much R134 refrigerant do I add to an empty A/C system on a 1995 ford Taurus?

You can not add to an empty system, with just air inside it

The system must be checked for leaks & repaired first

If that was done, then you need to pull a vacuum on the system
& see if it holds,I assume you know that,if not, you need a repair
shop with the correct A/C Equipment

The amount of refrigerant is on a sticker under the hood, also in factory service manuals & repair shops have it in similar data base
info.

Your referring to a complete charge of the system, not adding to it

That has to be done under a vacuum & you need some knowledge of the laws of physics pertaining to refrigerant

Helps to have the factory charts also, to look at ambient temp at the
time of charging & system pressures

Have a shop work on it

Freon went in upside down. Freezer on 29 degrees. not sure what to do now.

To properly charge that freezer the system needs to be put into a vacuum to below at least 500 microns. Did you fix the leak? The only reason to put refrigerant into a system is if it leaked out. Also it has a critical charge and must be weighed in with a scale in onces. If it says 16 oz. It will not work right if you put in 15 or 17 oz. If you did all these things the only thing left is to replace the cap tube drier assembly or the temperature control. Hope this helps and good luck.

Air conditiong not working

Have the system pressures tested with a set of AC pressure gauges at a local shop to determine whether the system is low on refrigerant. If the system is found to be low the leak must be repaired, the system evaluated with a special vacuum pump and then refilled with the correct amount of R134 refrigerant.

Aircon regasing

There is a specification plate on the base of the unit. It will have the refrigerant type and quantity listed. The leak should be found and repaired before re-charging with refrigerant.
1993 model could be r-12,r-22 or r-134a.

The coils in the back of refrigerator are hot

The coils are supposed to be hot as they remove heat from the fridge which causes the fridge to get cold. The water under the fridge is from the defrost cycle that quickly melts frost in the freezer and sends it through a tube to a collection pan underneath. If there is water on the floor, the hose is misaligned or plugged up.

Possible leak in the sealed system. Make sure the technician pressurizes the system with nitrogen, changes drier, evacuates to 500 microns, then weighs in the correct charge.

A/c blowing hot in 96 dodge neon wanting to add refridgerant don't know which valve to hook up to

The car should have R134 freon (and should have a label in the engine compartment indicating so). R134 ports are two different sizes and your charge hose should only fit the correct port
