Do you mean wired or wireless?
If wireless, can you detect other wireless signal or ssid? If not, make sure your wireless is enabled. If yes, make sure the wireless light is lit on your router.

Go to the dell support website and download the driver for your network adapter.

Router will not return ip address - limited or no connectivity

Try again with static ip.
Then if it is connected then you have restart the DND service of winxp.
For that go to start ->run
type in run "services.msc"
then check in right pane you find DNd client.
Right click on it then stop then again restart it.
Then check .
If still face same problem then go to another pc where internet works fine.
Access your router with following link.
http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.0.1
For belkin router
http://192.168.15.1

type user name as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
Then go to DHCP then enable DHCP then save setting and restarrt router.
Let me know if you need more assistanse.

NEED MY ROUTER IP ADRESS CANT LOCATE MANUAL MODEL F5D9230-4

This is from the Belkin Web Site:
Windows 2000, XP, and Vista
1. Click Start, and then select All Programs (XP and Vista) or Programs (2000). 2. Select Accessories, and then Command Prompt (2000, XP, and Vista). 3. At the command prompt, enter: ipconfig 4. The IP address (or IPv4 address is you are using Windows Vista) will be a series of numbers following the pattern xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, for example, 192.168.2.2. 5. To close the command prompt, type: exit and press Enter.

Setting up a w.less repeater using an old w.less b.band router

Temporarily plug in wire network cable into Dell and log into Dell.
1. Set wireless up the same as the Belkin. Save these settings.
2. Set WAN to "Static IP Address and give it an address about 25 higher than Belkin. (Belkin 192.169.0.1 - Del 192.168.0.26). Save these settings.
3. Disable DHCP and Save these settings.
Exit web browser and disconnect network cable. Restart your complete system, first the Belkin, then the Dell, then your computers.
This way, the Belkin is running and able to assign IP addresses to all that start after it.

Trendnet router on 2nd floor gives poor signal on first floor.

The Trendnet router did not get very many if any good reviews. I would say any router is better than what you have. Belkin is ok but on the low end of OK.

Spend some time on CNet, PCMagazine, Anandtech, Tom's Hardware and look at some of the reviews they have done.

Good luck
