Question about StompSoft BackUp My PC 2005 (05004) for PC

File is not accessible. Access is denied message

After a complete reinstall of my operating system was necessary due to a virus, I am trying to access my iTunes files. They reinstalled using Back Up my PC. I have uninstalled and reinstall the program but am still unable to use/run/see My Library of tunes. The message is that the files/folder is not accessible. Access is denied. I can not delete this file--no authorization. Please post an answer in English- I have a hard time with computerspeak.

Hi.
Sorry for the delayed responce. Ok first thing is first. The "files/folder is not accessible" occurs because the program cannot find the files in the place where they should be. for example if you put your socks in a draw and your wife moved it, when you return you wont have axcess to them right :) will basically its the same thing here. What you will need to do is find the default directory of itunes it should be in the Options or tools ir settings menu (I dont use itunes so i am not sure just play around in the program until you find it) once you do you need to search you computer for where the PC Backup put your files ..
click start then search and type the name or piece of the name of a song you know should be there. Once you find it browse to the directory of where the song is located. Click start then my computer then local disk to get to your harddrive. Go to the folder that has the songs and copy them. then paste them into the directory where itunes is looking for them.

Removing 'Access denied' error from folders and files using Unlocker Assistant


Copying files from one destination to another is a practice that goes on a lot among PC users. Sometimes huge sums of data are moved from one hard disk to another. Now there is this error that happens a lot where, when the mouse icon is placed on a folder, you see 'folder is empty' even though you know that the folder you copied is not empty. When you try to open it, you are told that access denied. Most of the files too may not be accessible and will also give access denied error. This is a frustration that can make one think that his/her files are lost. Well, there are ways out and even though it might take time, it's worth it. The following, is a solution to this problem using the software, Unlocker Assistant;

1. First, you would have to obtain the software on the internet. It's free and you can easily search and download it in a few seconds.

2. Install it by following the instructions and you are ready to go. Now, if you are using Super Copier, Unlocker Assistant may fail to start so if you do, then uninstall the Super Copier for the time you would use the Unlocker Assistant. You can install it back when done.

3. Now create a folder on another drive with enough space, different from the one with file and folder errors.

4. Now right-click a folder (one with access denied and empty folder error) and select 'Unlocker'. Among the list of actions, you select move and select the folder you created as destination. If the moving goes through, a success message will show and state that object was moved which means everything in that folder is fully unlocked and is accessible.

5. If the moving does not go through, it will ask you if you would like to move the object the next time you restart. If so, select no. Now refresh and check the folder again and you will see that this time, it is not empty and it is accessible. Now open the folder and repeat the same thing with all other sub-folders. Now this might take time depending on the number of folders you have so you might want to ignore folders that you do not need.

6. Now after you have unlocked the folders, you come to the files in the folders. Select all the files in the folder and right-click and select move. Create the same folder name at the destination for easy recognition. All the files will moved. If the file sizes are very big, you might want to take a little at a time but if they are all small, then you may select all.

7. Now every file that is moved by Unlocker is now accessible. Pictures, movies and all other file types can now be accessed. After everything, you may then move the files back to the disk that had the file and folder errors.

That is all. You are done. Hope this was helpful.

When I turned on my computer this morning I got this message saying your computer might be infected with: Sality.AN. Then message asking me to buy this antivirus called Defender pro 2015.


You almost NEVER have to completely format a hard drive to remove a virus.

If you can get into safe mode run a system restore to before the infection, if you can't boot into safe mode then you'll need to get on another computer that can access the internet and download HITMANPRO. Their site explains how to make a USB stick with KICKSTARTER so you can boot from that and it will allow you to remove the bug(s)

Sorry.i have tried to delete wgaTray.exe as you say but it cannot be deleted and messaging me ''access is denied.make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in...


I believe that the operating system your using is not genuine or fake. There is nothing you can do now. It would be better if you will reformat it now. It's only a matter of time before they lock your whole pc. When reformatted never allow automatic updates on your window.

ACCESS PROBLEM TO E-MAIL, MY DOCUMENTS


HI

1) Bringing up the Task Manager (CTRL - ALT - DEL)
2) Then click File -> New Task / Run
3) Browse to "C:\Windows\explorer.exe" (it may just say "explorer")
4) Click OK

This should bring up your desktop long enough to run the malwarebytes software, which will fix this issue, once you complete the scan.

Deleting stompsoft virus x-terminator


it is likely that the file IS in use by the computer..
have you tried the following >>
press and hold Ctrl - Alt & Delete (then release together)
this will activate the TASK MANAGER
Look in the PROCESSES area, and look for anything that looks like the name of the stompsoft program - select end process.
Do the same in the Applications Tab...
Click on the START button on the task bar
Select RUN
Tyoe msconfig
6th tab along says - startup.. Look for anything relating to stompsoft, and DESELECT IT.
Now try and remove what you need to remove..

The following instructions pertain to all current and recent Symantec antivirus products, including the Symantec AntiVirus and Norton AntiVirus product lines.


Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
Remove all the entries that the risk added to the hosts file.
Update the virus definitions.
Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected.
Delete any values added to the registry.

For specific details on each of these steps, read the following instructions.

1. To disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP)
If you are running Windows Me or Windows XP, we recommend that you temporarily turn off System Restore. Windows Me/XP uses this feature, which is enabled by default, to restore the files on your computer in case they become damaged. If a virus, worm, or Trojan infects a computer, System Restore may back up the virus, worm, or Trojan on the computer.

Windows prevents outside programs, including antivirus programs, from modifying System Restore. Therefore, antivirus programs or tools cannot remove threats in the System Restore folder. As a result, System Restore has the potential of restoring an infected file on your computer, even after you have cleaned the infected files from all the other locations.

Also, a virus scan may detect a threat in the System Restore folder even though you have removed the threat.

For instructions on how to turn off System Restore, read your Windows documentation, or one of the following articles:
How to disable or enable Windows Me System Restore
How to turn off or turn on Windows XP System Restore

Note: When you are completely finished with the removal procedure and are satisfied that the threat has been removed, reenable System Restore by following the instructions in the aforementioned documents.

For additional information, and an alternative to disabling Windows Me System Restore, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article: Antivirus Tools Cannot Clean Infected Files in the _Restore Folder (Article ID: Q263455).


2. To remove all the entries that the risk added to the hosts file

Navigate to the following location:


Windows 95/98/Me:
%Windir%
Windows NT/2000/XP:
%Windir%\System32\drivers\etc

Notes:
The location of the hosts file may vary and some computers may not have this file. There may also be multiple copies of this file in different locations. If the file is not located in these folders, search your disk drives for the hosts file, and then complete the following steps for each instance found.
%Windir% is a variable that refers to the Windows installation folder. By default, this is C:\Windows (Windows 95/98/Me/XP) or C:\Winnt (Windows NT/2000).


Double-click the hosts file.
If necessary, deselect the "Always use this program to open this program" check box.
Scroll through the list of programs and double-click Notepad.
When the file opens, delete all the entries added by the risk. (See the Technical Details section for a complete list of entries.)
Close Notepad and save your changes when prompted.


3. To update the virus definitions
Symantec Security Response fully tests all the virus definitions for quality assurance before they are posted to our servers. There are two ways to obtain the most recent virus definitions:
Running LiveUpdate, which is the easiest way to obtain virus definitions: These virus definitions are posted to the LiveUpdate servers once each week (usually on Wednesdays), unless there is a major virus outbreak. To determine whether definitions for this threat are available by LiveUpdate, refer to Virus Definitions (LiveUpdate).
Downloading the definitions using the Intelligent Updater: The Intelligent Updater virus definitions are posted daily. You should download the definitions from the Symantec Security Response Web site and manually install them. To determine whether definitions for this threat are available by the Intelligent Updater, refer to Virus Definitions (Intelligent Updater).

The latest Intelligent Updater virus definitions can be obtained here: Intelligent Updater virus definitions. For detailed instructions read the document: How to update virus definition files using the Intelligent Updater.


4. To scan for and delete the infected files
Start your Symantec antivirus program and make sure that it is configured to scan all the files.
For Norton AntiVirus consumer products: Read the document: How to configure Norton AntiVirus to scan all files.
For Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise products: Read the document: How to verify that a Symantec Corporate antivirus product is set to scan all files.
Run a full system scan.
If any files are detected, click Delete.

Important: If you are unable to start your Symantec antivirus product or the product reports that it cannot delete a detected file, you may need to stop the risk from running in order to remove it. To do this, run the scan in Safe mode. For instructions, read the document, How to start the computer in Safe Mode. Once you have restarted in Safe mode, run the scan again.

After the files are deleted, restart the computer in Normal mode and proceed with the next section.

Warning messages may be displayed when the computer is restarted, since the threat may not be fully removed at this point. You can ignore these messages and click OK. These messages will not appear when the computer is restarted after the removal instructions have been fully completed. The messages displayed may be similar to the following:

Title: [FILE PATH]
Message body: Windows cannot find [FILE NAME]. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.


5. To delete the value from the registry
Important: Symantec strongly recommends that you back up the registry before making any changes to it. Incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. Modify the specified subkeys only. For instructions refer to the document: How to make a backup of the Windows registry.

Click Start > Run.
Type regedit
Click OK.

Note: If the registry editor fails to open the threat may have modified the registry to prevent access to the registry editor. Security Response has developed a tool to resolve this problem. Download and run this tool, and then continue with the removal.


Navigate to and delete the subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\RpcRemotes


Navigate to the subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup


In the right pane, delete the value:

"Ph4nt0m" = "Ph4nt0m"


Navigate to the subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wuauserv


In the right pane, reset the value to the original value if applicable:

"Start"


Navigate to the subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess


In the right pane, reset the value to the original value if applicable:

"Start"
