It sounds like if it only works a day or two and then you disconnect it and re-connect it, and it works again for a day or two, I don't think the problem is how you are connecting it. I think the radio needs to be reset every couple of days. If it has a reset button, just press that and it will at least keep you from disconnecting it and reconnecting it.
This also sounds like it has an internal electronic problem. When you disconnect the radio, it resets the microprocessor. You should have it checked out by a service center, or if you do not want to spend any money on this radio, just get a new one.

No code or series of buttons, sounds like you blew a fuse.
Check your vehicle's user manual for fusebox location and check the fuses. There is also a fuse on the back of the deck itself that may have blown.
If your unit has an AUX IN then use that, otherwise you need to utilize the IP Bus system (the place where a CD change would hook up). If that's the case you will need to purchase and adapter from the manufacturer or Crutchfield.com
you can buy the proper harness for any vehicle at most stereo shops or even some at WalMart, but you have to hook it to the one that plugs into the radio. The colors on each harness will be identical- just match them up.
My guess is that when you pushed the player into the dash, you pinched a power wire, resulting in a blown fuse. Check the vehicle's fuse box.
Most vehicles have at least two fuses that provide power to the radio, though they may not all be labeled as radio fuses. You may need to check all the fuses in the vehicle, including any fuse box under the hood.
is there a cd already in it? Try hitting the eject button(it couldn't hurt!).If you bought it 'New',take it back to the store where you purchased it fromand relate your tale of woe,If it's a reputable dealer they'll probably give you an exchange(try to get a differant brand the tuners on the 303's kinda suck). If you bought it used,..well now you know why the other guy got himself a new one! Sorry! Hope this helped!
