Portable Hard Drive refuses to stay linked with PC
My portable Hard Drive recently purchased will work OK on my Office PC and on my laptop but not on my home PC. I bought it so that I could carry files from Home to work etc. When I connect to my home PC it only runs for a few moments then cuts off and will sometimes reconnect again for a few minutes before cutting off again. I am using Windows XP the same as the Office and Laptop. My Iomega drive model LPHD160-U P/N31625101R Can you advise ?

Yes you can load a discs into it but only the softwares for it or drivers to be exact, how ever there are application that will allow you to install a program to your USB drives. try portable apps, search for it on google so you'll know the details and compatible programs for it
Please check in device manager that storage mass device is not showing yellow mark if it is please first remove any storage device showing yellow mark in usb devices in device manager >
You wil find device manager in windows 2000/xp in control panel >administrative tools>computer management ..then click on device manager
Second thing is please remove/uninstall any storage device information from device manager
Restart the pc and then go to device manager and see there should be no entry of storage device in usb root devices .After this fix your usb device and it will work definately
