How do I replace the Bios battery in a Dell Precision 4600 Laptop. Which videos will show me the correct disassembly procedures? Can you supply the correct part no.?

Do you mean the Dell Precision M4600 mobile workstation. According to the User Manual, the coin cell battery is a 3V CR2032 lithium ion cell (page 117).

To replace this battery, turn off and close the laptop and remove the power cable and all external cables, docks and accessories. Make sure that the work surface is clean. Turn the system over and remove the main battery by sliding the release latch towards the center of the computer. Turn the system right side up and open the display. Press the power button to ground the laptop and drain any capacitors. Remove any cards from the card slots. Close the display again and turn the laptop upside down. Touch bare metal on the system to ground yourself relative to the computer.

Remove the two screws that hold the base cover onto the 4600. These are on the edge of the battery compartment on the side nearest the battery release latch. Press the rubber feet on the bottom of the cover towards the rear of the system to disengage the bottom door. Then remove the base cover. (See page 23 of the manual.)

Carefully disconnect the coin cell battery from the system board. There is a small white connector at the end of the wire. (The coin cell compartment is near one of the two system fans.) Pry up the current coin cell battery out of the adhesive and remove it from the computer. The connect the new battery to the coin cell compartment and reconnect the wires to the system board. See pages 49-50 in the manual. Replace the base cover and the battery.

I can't find a video for the coin cell battery replacement. However, the manual is available here: . However, the first part of the following video: . shows disconnecting the coin cell battery from the system board (when the system is completely out of the case.

I hope this helps.

How to replace keyboard

This is a fairly simple process. First unplug the ac adapter and remove the battery. The looking at the keyboard, right above it is a Bezel that hides the screws. Take a small flat tip screw driver and gently pry up on the right side, then lift the Bezel out. Once out, you will see three small Philips Head screws that was under the Bezel holding the keyboard. Using a screwdriver remove the three screws.
Make sure that you have a screw driver hat fits them properly, because sometimes they are in very tight, and you can strip the screw slot easily. Once you remove them, gently lift up the keyboard, starting from the front where the screws were. Then grabbing the small wire handle, unplug it from the motherboard. Once removed, place the new keyboard in by plugging the cable into the motherboard. Make sure you press down slightly so that it is seated well in the socket. Them slide the lower end in, and then lay it down and screw it back in place. The insert the Bezel back in starting by sliding it is the left side and pushing down until it re-seats itself. Gently press down along the Bezel to make certain that it has completely seated. The install your battery and plug in your ac adapter, and your finished.
There is a YouTube video showing the removal as he is replacing memory on a D620 (which is exactly the same procedure). Here is the link to the video.

Good Luck.

LOL, good ole Windows 7, it loses devices just like Windows Vista.

Try downloading and reinstalling the drivers.

Get onlineand got to In the google search box type: "DellSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the drivers. If after reinstalling the drivers the problem still exists. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the battery, turn the laptop over and start removing the screws from the cover that houses the wireless card. Once you find the wireless card, remove the screw or screws that hold it in place and take the wireless out of the slot. Also remove the antennas from the wirles card (black and white cables). Then but the antennas back on, put the wireless card back into the slot, and reboot and see if it's recognized and works.

HOw Do I Take Apart a Dell Inspiron1764

LOL, just get some paper cups and label them with the screws you take off so that you will know how to put them back. It would take too long to go into details on how to tear a laptop down, but basically you remove the power cord, remove the battery, remove screws from the bottom case, remove the disk drive, remove the memory, remove the cd drive, remove the wifi card, remove the dvd drive, remove screws inside battery case, remove screws inside the hard drive case, remove screws inside the cd case, turn the laptop over, open the lid, remove the strip above the keyboard, remove screws holding the keyboard, remove the keyboard, remove screws holding the palmrest, remove the palmrest, remove the lcd hinges, remove the wires coming from the lcd going down thru the palmrest. Lift the motherboard out.

Dell C610 battery cmos/bios

The removal and replacement instructions can be found in the dell service documents available at You can look it up by service tag or model number. But in short, the procedures are. 1. Remove the hard drive, then remove the keyboard. The keyboard is removed by removing the 5 screws on the bottom of the laptop marked with a "K" beside them. Then the keyboard can be removed. be careful not to tear the ribbon cable, and you do not have to remove the ribbon cable. The battery will be in the center of the opening, it will have a white plug that plugs into the keyboard. Contrary to Ayyasam's recomendations above, it is not necessary to remove "all" the screws on the bottom, nor is it necessary to remove the bottom of the laptop. It should be a 5 minute project. Again for any Dell item, the factory repair manuals are available online, and have exact instructions including pictures and diagrams.

Happy Computing

How to replace the cosmos battery on a dell latitude cpx laptop

Replacing the CMOS battery on a laptop is by no means an easy task...

On a regular desktop computer it would only involve taking off a panel and replacing a flat button-cell battery.

A laptop, however, is a whole different beast. Please don't take any offense, but if your calling it a cosmos battery, I could venture to guess that working on a laptop is a foreign experience.

I would strongly recommend going to a local shop to have them do the work as with many laptops losing screws, forgetting what goes where and even breaking components and plastic pieces is far too easy to do.

Track down the specific CMOS battery for your model of laptop. (Do a quick google of your Dell model number and the words "replacement cmos battery") Once you find the specific part number, you'll be able to start the hunt for your specific part as laptops generally do not use button cell batterys the same way as a desktop, they are usually either soldered to the motherboard or have a specific connector.

If you're comfortable with it, you could take the laptop apart, track down the battery and find the voltage then resolder a new button-cell battery to the connectors and finally wraping it in electrical tape.

Good Luck and be careful! I'm still finding screws from my first laptop tear-down. lol

Battery replacement navman icn530

Besides the two screws the back lit is "clicked" to the front lit. I used a small screwdriver and carefully pushed it in between the front and back lit and after some careful manouvering it clicked open at several positions. My battery was glued to the electronic print! Again using the small screwdriver and watching carefully not to turn on the power I was able to remove it. This procedure is certainly not an advocate of Navman! But in my case it worked ....
