Question about D-Link DIR-625 (790069292637) Wireless Router

1 Answer

My wireless is connected, actually has an excellent signal, but i cannot browse any webpage

I just bought a new D-Link DIR-615 from bestbuy a few days ago. Since then, it never worked for me. I dont have problem with the connection, its perfectly 100% connected, but everytime i try to go to my browser (mozilla, i.e.) or anything that requires internet access, i cant. i just receive an error saying "THE SERVER CANNOT BE FOUND" how could it possibly be if its connected?

please experts, help me. im getting frustrated now. i tried everything i read in the internet, but still doesnt work. ive been working on this for a week and im actually thinking of returning this to best buy but i dont know whats wrong. please help me. thank you.

    Thank you for the response.

Yes i already did that option. i went to network connection then tcp/ip, clicked on the properties and typed those everything up, but it still has no luck for me.

Just want to add: if i connect my ethernet cable directly from my modem, it works just fine thats why i have my connection right now. However, if i try to use the router, it will connect either, but i cant browse the internet and it will just give me a cannot find server error. hope that makes it more clear.

    thanks

I have just bought the 615 wireless router.

Found the setup relatively simple. Wired connection seems fine, but the wireless keeps dropping out and needing to log in again.

I removed the wireless phone from the room in case it was that, but it still does the same.

Then I checked out Amazon.Com and it seems load of people have exactly the same problem. Could it be that it is actually a P-O-S?

Tech support email came back quickly from D-Link with a suggestion to change the channel manually, but I can't find the option according to their instructions.

    Perhaps that might work?

I also have the problem of it is showing that it's connected to the network but I can't connect to the server when using the wireless lap top.My desktop that is connected directly to the internet works fine.

It was working before and I had someone look at it and they told me it wasn't assigning IP addresses, so they fixed it and it worked for a while, now it's not working again.

if its a dlink it default gateway must be 192.168.0.1

your ip address shoould be 192.168.0.( any no from 1 to 256 )

your dns primary should be 192.168.0.1

    dns secondary 192.168.1.0

    please check on this ...

Ok let's try something for you. Going into your internet settings and clicking on tcp/ip properties, go ahead and write down the ip address assigned to you from your service provider. Once you have done that let's connect the modem into the port labeled WAN and then connect the computer to one of the other ports labeled 1-4. Now in an open internet explorer type 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 one of these will open a window asking for username and password. Both should be admin. Once we are in the web based settings of your router you need to check the status of your router. On that page you should see the same ip address that you wrote down. If not go ahead and release and renew and see if you finally get the ip address to be the same. Once that is established you can check your ip address on your computer by going to the internet options and checking it. It should be somewhere between 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.256 (those number depend on the parameters of your router i.e. how many wireless devices are able to connect to your computer.) Silly question but do you have a wireless adapter on the computer that you are trying to connect? Laptops (new) usually have them built in and they must be turned on. Desktops require installation of a wireless adapter. Router's are basically looked at by your service provider as a computer behind your modem, they assign an IP address to your modem, whether you connect a computer or a router to your modem your service don't see the difference, it still assigns. Once the router receives the ip address from your service provider, it then has the duty of assigning IP addresses to all of the devices you wish to connect to the internet and each other.
Hope this helps

Good Luck

My D-link router (dir 615) saying is connected but have no internet access

Wired or wireless? Check all cables, have you tried to connect with a Ethernet cable to the ISP modem, if it connects, try connecting via the cable to the D-link. Work you way through the devices one by one.If it connects via the cable, it's the computer's wireless adapter. Will other computers connect? Or contact your ISP to verify the signal, have a tech come out to analyze the signal. It may be outside. It's happened before, to me.

Ok this might be a bit tricky but it sounds like there is another wireless signal that may be interfering with yours.

Do you have an older cordless phone in the house? If so try and move the cordless base farther away from the wireless router. Even if they are on different floors in your house, if they are located near each other the cordless can interfere with the wireless signal.

The other possibility is that there is signal that is coming from the outside of your location and is causing the interference.

I know that when I had an XP Pro machine (Laptop) it would drop the wireless signal every couple of days or so. I traced my problem to my neighbors cordless phone. he had an old one and it was near the side of my house that my router was on and it was causing me problems so I move my router and the problem went away.

hope this helps

My D-Link Router 615 keeps cutting out after a few minutes of working. I have no problems when I connect the ethernet cord directly to the modem.

Please check the wireless signal quality and strength you are getting from the wireless router.

Please do a continuous ping to the wireless router IP.

ping -t "ip of the wireless router"

if youve changed the password on the router since the other computers logged onto the network, then you need to delete the network history from those computers.
Otherwise those laptops will be trying to connect to the network with the old details.

Hi,

You have not configured the DHCP or manually allotted IP address to the system or possibly a wrong IP address. This is the reason for limited connectivity.

The light blinks when it scans for the wireless devices nearby and as well as for data transfer.
