Question about Panasonic Projection Televisions

I have a DVD burner/Video Recorder by Panasonic and one day after working fine the DVD drive won't recognize ANY media - it even thinks that there's a DVD in there when there isn't! It would cost me about what a new one would to fix and it's 2 years old anyway. So - is there ANY way that I could tinker with it to see if I can get it working again? I even tried dust-off to see if something was covering a sensor.....

This is a Panasonic DMR-ES46V. I have tried rebooting it, unplugging it, all kinds of media both blank and pre-recorded - even the RAM disk that came with it - nothing works. It makes 3 high hums and one low one (which it's never ever done before) and then that same sequence once again - then says the disk is unreadable - even when the drive is empty. SOMETHING has to be in there!!????

That would be great IF it would even recognize that DVD cleaner!!!!!!!!!!!

Already attempted to use a cleaning disk - sorry forgot to add that in my original post. It won't even recognize that there is a DVD of ANY KIND inside it!!!!!!!!

You can try first using a CD cleaner to clean the optics of it, then if still doesn't work you can try updating the firmware of it if there's any available one from the manufacturer..

Hope that helps........

There's really a possibilty that the optics of this device is already damage if you already update the firmware if there is you need to replace the unit now....

    Good luck....

Have a toshiba tp 61H95 proj TV- want to connect panasonic dvd recorder and toshiba vhs recorder so I can copy family videos to dvd- can't get hook ups set up for both to work.

Select AV-1 or some thing in TV and plug DVD recorder Video-Audio output in AV-1 input of TV, playback any DVD and confirm its picture and sound in TV. Press Stop button of DVD recorder to stop playback.
Now plug Video-Audio output of VCR in DVD recorder input and select AV Input in DVD recorder, insert VHS tape in VCR and playback it and confirm you get VHS picture and sound in TV via DVD recorder.
Hookup between TV, DVD recorder and VCR is completed.
Playback VHS tape in VCR, Insert blank DVD disc in DVD recorder and press Record while you see VHS tape picture in TV.
Hope this info will help you.

Where can I obtain a replacement DVD recorder for my Panasonic DVD Video recorder DMR-75V. It is not operating and wont read discs, record or erase. Can only play sometimes. Would need to operate in...

FIrst of all, try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Once complete, try a DVD and then a CD. If the CD plays and the DVD does not, the optics are failing and need to be replaced. If you are comfortable with this repair, the parts should be available from any Panasonic parts distruibutor in your country. I can only get part numbers for American units. The optics should be the same for the Austrailian units, but I can't verify this. Call a the parts distributor and ask for the optics assembly. This will be the assembly that contains the optics, the sled motor and the frame. This will be held in place by 4 screws.

Good luck.

We have a Philips DVD Recorder a Freeserve Digital box and a TV. Since adding the DVD Recorder we cannot tune in Freeserve at all and DVD's play only in black and white. Help Please. ...

Hi Jack,

And if you remove the DVD Recorder, everything is back to normal?

Initially, I would suspect that your DVD is set to PAL system and not to NTSC (or could be the other way around). Could you pls post back with the exact model number of the Philips DVD Recorder?

Additionally, could you pls detail how the Freeserve Digital box is connected to the Philips DVD Recorder and then to the TV? Pls indicate if you are using Video IN/OUT, S-Video, HDMI, SCART, RF IN/OUT.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

When I got my Sony BRAVIA KDL-32L4000 last year, I could not get my VCR to work  in Video In-2 on the side of the unit. Got a consistent "no signal" message on the screen. I then got rid of the old...

If you take the cables that are currently connected to video 1 and connect them instead to video 2, select video 2 as the input from the remote and get the no-signal message, there is a problem with either the switching IC (not likely) or the input jacks (more likely). The problem with the input jack may be as simple as a bad solder connection that can be fixed in 5 minutes. Do the test first. If you get no signal, request service. This should be a simple repair.

Have a samsung Samsung LE26A456C and a toshiba dvd recorder. Have set up telly fine, set up video to play fine but cannot record

What is it that you are trying to record? If you are trying to record a DVD you have purchased onto a DVD-R, you will almost always run into a problem because most purchased DVDs have copyright codes burned into them, making them unrecordable. Most VHS tapes have these copyright protection codes in them as wel. If you are trying to record a television show, and are unable to do so, make sure that the DVD that you are using is compatible with your burner. If your burner is set up to record only DVD-R, then you must use only the DVD-R discs. If your burner is set up to record only DVD+R, then you must use only the DVD+R discs. Some burners will record both the DVD-R and DVD+R. If you have the right discs for your burner, make sure that the discs are correctly formatted to be recorded. Also, make sure that if you are recording from a cable box or other input that you have the correct unput channel selected on the burner. If these suggestions don't work, then it could be the brand of DVD that you have purchased (i.e. Sony,Maxell,TDK,Fuji,etc.). Check your manual for acceptable brands. I hope this helps you out. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Component Video inputs do not work

I started back in the day of tubes. A family would have one set and it would be a 19" black and white. There are different resolutions now. The components probably do work, but, they don't pass the 480i signal. The satelite converter's analog signal needs to be set to 480p and the DVD needs to be set to progressive if it does have that setting. If the DVD is not a progressive scan DVD, then, the only inputs that it will show on is the analog signal. Some of the dish converters have a switch on the face for changing the resolution. If yours doesn't then put it in an analog source and go to the menu and change it there. Then move it to the component input. Hope this helps.
