My Dell 2007wfp monitor went black a couple of times. The second time it did it the monitor stayed black. I plugged my old monitor in and it worked just fine. So I know its the monitor. Its out of warranty. Am I s o l? Are there any places that repair these monitors. I loved this monitor before it went on the blink. Thankyou

See the power connector at the back of your monitor that connect with the power line. sometime when it is lose ,it does happen like that. if the problem persist then you have to take to the repairing shop becuase it is happening due to faulty in electronic components.

There are several web sites that advertise they repair LCDs, here is an example:

http://www.moniserv.com/doc/lcd.html

Most TV Repair shops work on monitors too (Same technology) So you might want to check your local TV repair guy too.

You also need to be aware that new LCD prices are dropping, and it may be cheaper to replace than repair.

Although there are places that will repair these, unless you do it yourself your better of purchasing a new one. It will have a warranty and it's not much more than a board level repair would be.

Monitor Screen goes black every few seconds!

Check the capacitors on your monitors circuit board. If they have opened up at the top, they are fried. Buy new ones, make sure nothing has leaked from the old ones, and replace them.

The screen went black after few seconds.

Hello Chris,

You have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictues and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the strip on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Dell 20 inch lcd monitor 2007WFP

Yes, If you have it sent in for repair they may be able to do it. Geek Squad would not be able to do it in the store. Although in most cases it is more costly then a new monitor. If it is still under warranty I would try and do it that way.
Good luck,
Lee

Dell 20" monitor doesn't power up

I suspect Best Buy will most likely replace the monitor's entire power circuit. It's possible that you shorted out a fuse, the input transformer, or some other component in the monitor's power supply. The only way to tell for sure is to disassemble the monitor and check the circuitry visually and with a meter. This job is best left to a qualified technician.
