Have a digital cable box connected to an older tv (does not have HDMI connection on tv), cable box connected to DVD recorder, but can't get setup menu to come up on tv screen. I hooked up the DVD recorder with the wires it came with, but it would not play or give me the menu. However it was correctly hooked up.

SOURCE: sETUP ADVICE NEEDED TO INTERFACE WITH MOTOROLA DCH 70 CABLE TUNER

Take a splitter from the wall and plug it in using a seperate line. You wont get all the digital channels but you can get channels up to 150 to record. Depending on how many av outputs you have on the back of your digital tuner you might be able to take one of those those and plug it into the av input of your DVD recorder. You can get a better picture that way when you record from the cable box vs using coax.

Make sure the splitter is approved for digital cable use. The Radio Shack ones work the best and they are usually the same version of the ones Comcast sells to customers. If you get a brand like they carry at drug stores you will lose picture quality and probably end up with a service call bill as well.

SOURCE: hookup wrong? I can't get the menu to come up for the VR375

New HD tv. Have digital cable box connected to tv., cable box connected to DVD recorder, but can't get setup menu to come up on tv screen. I had a similar problem. I have a HD tv connected to a digital cable box. I hooked up the DVD recorder with the wires it came with, but it would not play or give me the menu. However it was correctly hooked up. So the next day I connected a HDMI wire from the DVD recorder to the tv and everything works now.

How to connect motorola cable box to samsung dvd/vcr model vr375 to a Westinghouse hdtv with 2 hdmi connections

The DVD-VR375 does not have an HDMI input. The connection should be:
• RED WHITE & YELLOW CABLE from your cable box (AV OUT) should connect to the DVD-VR375 (AV IN 1). Set the DVD-VR375 to AV 1 using the INPUT SEL. button.
• Next, connect an HDMI cable from the DVD-VR375 (HDMI OUT) to the TV (HDMI IN). Set the TV to the proper source.
This connection would allow the recorder to work as a pass through and will let you record TV programs as well as watch your cable channels.

Hope this helps!

How to eliminate error screen:"your tv does not allow display of this program through the dvi input source. please chose another tv input source."

"cable box to tv is hdmi cable"

Everything I've read on the web says cable box to tv connection must also use component (rgb) cables. The error is coming from the cable box (STB). All the Scientific Atlanta (SA) cable boxes seem have this Digital Rights Management (DRM) bug and the only way to be totally rid of the error is to replace the digital connection from box to the TV with an analog connection.

Sony connectivity

OK, here are info...
first unplug TV and dvd recorder from AC outlet and put hdmi cable as follows...
at rear side of TV, you have 2 hdmi inputs, hook hdmi cable in any one of them and other end of hdmi cable will be hooked in hdmi out of dvd recorder rear side.
Now, plug both units in AC outlet and power up, go to TV menu > hdmi setup > and perform device list update.
TV will recognize dvd recorder and you will see dvd recorder logo screen.

Let me know if you need further info / help.

We have just bought a samsung dvd r155, we are having great difficulty in connecting the dvd to the tv via a hdmi cable. Both the tv & the dvd have hdmi ports. When the tv is receiving the digital output...

In order to record on the DVD-R155 you need to be subscribed to Cable or Satellite and have a set-top box with the audio/video plugs and not just a coaxial cable from the wall. With just the cable from the wall you can only play DVD's. I have an older TV and need to change to channel 91 in order to play a DVD

Connecting PVR and satellite receiver

make sure you have a connection from one of your scart sockets (assuming you are using scart) on your sat to your pvr and then a connection (scart/hdmi?) to your tv from the pvr.

if you have a second scart or better still hdmi on your sat then plug that into tv

set top box scart output to tv

you do not say which tv model number you have so I dont know what input sockets you have but I will assume a couple of scart inputs and maybe a hdmi in (if hd version of tv) these days that would be considered a minimum amout of inputs so the setup suggestion above should be fine with that

Hello

by befault your dvd recorder is transmiting signals via component video, so what you need to do is this connect both cable HDMI and Component or just a video cable then go into setup and then select video out via HDMI your video will go off on the screen and then with TV remote slect input source HDMI on TV and it should work fine.

Thankyou
