Adobe Photodeluxe 2.0 /VISTA

Hi jlblues,
I have tried to follow your instructions to solve the compatibility problems between my old and beloved Photodeluxe 2.0 and the new and damned Vista, which was pre-installed my new notebook. When I try to save any image, except the .gif ones, the program simply shuts off. Previously I could use this program with XP by simply increasing the virtual memory of the PC.
Despite your instructions, It is not clear to me how to open the files on the Photodeluxe CD ROM to find out the SETUP.EXE and the COMPATIBILITY TAB. When I rightclick on the CD the following files appear:
ITALIANO (that's my language:-)))
AUTORUN (adobe )
AUTORUN (Information for installation).
I would appreciate very much if you could help me in working out this job, I must admit I am not an expert in PCs, I am 62 yo, and I need simple, step-by-step instructions.
Thanks for your help and patience. Best regards from South Tyrol (Italy).

I have photo deluxe 2.0 and it opens files just fine. It also performs all the other functions but when I try to save the file it just shuts down. I've increased my virtual memory but that didn't help.

I also would like to make my Photodeluxe 2.0 work on vista or purchase something that works like 2.0. Does anyone know of a similar product?

I just got Photo deluxe 2.0 to work on a new computer (bought Feb. 2010) with Windows 7, and I don’t even have a .setup file. This was a program that came with an HP years ago when they included a lot of software. I had simply dragged and dropped the program onto a CD. Since then I loaded and ran it on my XP without problem. Now with Windows 7 I got the ‘not enough RAM’ message and tried everything suggested on several blogs without luck. To fix the problem I right clicked on the .exe file and selected ‘properties’. Went to ‘compatibility’ then checked ‘run this program in compatibility mode for:’ and selected, ‘windows 98 / windows me’. Boy was I happy to see it up and running again. Hope this helps someone out there, this is a great program. I’ve used the newer versions and they are WAY too complicated for my usage.

I just made PhotoDeluxe 4 work on my new computer with Vista. After downloading the software for PhotoDeluxe 4, go to Help and Support for Vista and click on Get your programs to work on this version of Windows then click on Click to open the Program Compatibility Wizard. Select the choose PhotoDeluxe and follow the instructions. I am not used to 4 but it has all the same tools and functions as 2, just packaged differently. I am very glad to have PhotoDeluxe back!

Good Luck,

Try increasing your virtual memory, see this page:

To find your setup program, don't right click the CD, double click on it from My Computer. It's usually called setup.exe, and should be in the root (top) of the cd directory.

Buona Fortuna!!

Is there any version of Adobe Photodeluxe that will work on Windows 7? Thanks Chuck Lund

Adobe Photodeluxe is no longer maintained or supported by the company, the product that replaces it is adobe photoshop elements, you could also use compatibility mode.

Adobe PhotoDeluxe does not run with Vista

I found this solution on another forum and it worked for me. I have Adobe Photodeluxe 4 on a vista OS and got the same RAM error. I tried the "change the virtual memory" fix and that did not work. Then I found this: Right click on the Adobe Photodeluxe icon on the desktop and choose Properties, click on the Compatibility tab and choose run this progam in Windows XP service pack 2 mode. It worked for me!

I can't get adobe photodeluxe 2.0 to install on vista

photoshop uses a lot of much do you have on your system? there is a setting to increase the size of what adobe calls the "scratch disk"..make it as big as you have hard drive space that you can afford to lock in

Dont forget to rate the advice.

Adobe Photo Deluxe 2.0

Go into the PhotoDeluxe2.0 CD ROM file list, right click on setup.exe and then go to the compatability tab. Select Win 98/ME. Hit OK. Then double-click on setup.exe. Program should install on Vista. Then find setup.exe on your hard drive, and set the compatability to Windows 98/ME. Program runs, but says something about not being able to load 16-bit driver. Just cancel out of that popup window. Program works fine...for far.
