Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-50WE655 50" Rear Projection HDTV

Open Question

Sony KDF50WE655 Projection TV/ Blue line

This TV is a 2005 and is working fine until recently. I noticed a light blue line from the left side to the middle of the screen. Sometime it is very noticeable. Is there a fix or adjustment?

I have the same problem but on the right side. Called Sony, and they offered to sell me a replacement 52 in flat panel for only 700.00. That's a 1500.00  cost savings over any other out their. I jumped at it.

I've had the same problem with my KDF-50WE655. If you do enough research on the web, you will discover that Sony is aware of a problem with the optical block (the heart of the TV) an $800+ repair and will work with owners to remediate until December 2008. They will offer to fix the problem at their cost or offer a new replacement LCD flat panel for a fraction of the new cost. I jumped on the new LCD replacement offer - but you better act fast!

My blue dot was in the lower left hand corner which later graduated to many smaller, pea-sized blue dots scattered across the screen. Web research shows a cost of $800 to repair. Sony offered to repair or sell its latest LCD for $800. The old set had approximately 7000 hours of use over 3 years old. Needless to say, I jumped to buy the new set. So far I am pleased with the new one.

I am running into the same problem - blue streak running entire bottom quarter of the screen.

Did you need to have a warranty for the replacement LCD?

This is a convergence problem. You will need the stk's changed and a pico fuse or 2. also from looking at the pic you might want to clean the lenses and mirror after the repair to bring back some of the vibrant colors the set once had when it was new. This repair should run you anywhere from $300-$500 depending on your area and the tech that comes out. If you need more information or would like to try to fix it on your own please let me know.

SOURCE: Sony KF50WE610 Vertical Blue Lines Across Screen

the vertical blue lines indicate some interference from other electronic gadgets near your tv. it started showing up on my sony grand wega when i installed my wireless modem. i almost ordered a new rear projection lamp costing over $100 but decided to experiment. i first moved my desk computer farther away from the tv then isolated the wireless modem router by placing it inside a small glass - the vertical blue lines became lighter in color so i dedided to find another small glass that fit inside the first glass container then put the router in the double glass - no more blue lines and my wireless modem router still works.
do some deductive thinking to figure out what's messing up your tv and isolate the interference.
good luck!

SOURCE: We have a sony wega KFWS60.

Do you mean KF60WE655. I don't recognize the model you show. I'm sure your talking about an LCD rear projection Sony. Your trouble is in the Optics ( light engine). Over time the Lamp has destroyed an internal filter ( glass element ) . This Blue haze or film will probably continue to get worse and grow across the entire screen. The only fix is to pull out the Optics and send off to Sony or another re builder.
Up until June 30, 2008 some of these models were being fixed at no cost by Sony.

Toshiba Model 51h84

The wavy when cold is a issue with a board in the set--Hyper board--the warmup until it begins to work will gradually get longer and longer.

The blue: look at set on a unused video input--if see faint curved blue lines with some blue visable on the screen the blue screen control needs to be adjusted just slightly down until the blue and curved lines are not seen.
