Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven
The subject pretty much says it all. We turn on the cook time, hit start and within seconds it shuts off, blinks out and have to put the date/time in again.
Just a hunch; plug it in to a different outlet.
AC outlets are only marginal when new and that unit can draw well over 10 amps.
If the contacts are failing, the unit will think it has been disconnected, killing off the clock setting too.
If that doesn't help, try plugging another high power appliance, an iron, toaster or coffee maker, into the same outlet used for the GE to see if they behave normally.
