Question about Philips SA4010 MP3 Player
If you are using a Mac, you just have to empty your trashcan. It will also empty out your computer's trash at the same time.
Mac puts all deleted music in an invisible folder called (.trashes) on the Philips rather than deleting them for some reason so you have to empty it.
If you aren't using a Mac or this does not work it may not be partitioned properly. You should use the software that came with it.
The Philips software doesn't work on a Mac, but you can use Disk Utility. First mount the Philips and use the Partition tab to make it only have "1 Partition" then use the Erase tab to set it to an MS-DOS file system.
I found out that my Philips had two partitions and it was limiting my space so that's how I solved it.

Did you use Windows Media Player to transfer the files - using any other program is going to cause problems like this. Go ahead and try the Update function in the Philips Device Manager - it's a shortcut for deleting the songs so you can start over and will remove the corruption. If you can't find the Device Manager, go to www.usasupport.philips.com and get the Device Manager from there.
