There is a reset button in both units, press one and then press the other right away and that should get them taalking to each other. use a paper clip, the reset buttons are located under the battery compartments

Usually replacing the batteries in both units solves this problem. if not, try moving units closer together - you can try this in 1 foot increments. if you still have problems - evaluate whether you have added any other cordless or remote devices around the time this unit quit working. if so, create more distance between your thermometer and the offending unit by relocating one or the other (you can test this first by turning off or unplugging the new device for several minutes while you check the signal on the thermo).
If this all fails- the units are typically not serviable by the DIYer. if under warranty contact Oregon Scientific and send back. if new - back to store. If older unit you may need to rplace the outdoor unit which can be ordered online.
good luck!

Question edited for clarity. Full 'make model (what it is)'.

Did you put batteries in both units and in the right order, sensor first?

Step 1: Insert 2 fresh AA, batteries into the TX29U-IT sensor according to the polarity marked in the battery compartment.

Step 2: Insert 2 fresh AAA, Alkaline batteries into the wireless thermometer according to the polarity markings. Step 3: After 5 minutes place sensor outside in a shaded location.

Try taking the inside unit outside as close to the transmitting unit as possible for three minutes. The signal might lock on to the setting you want to receive.

How to calibrate Ryobi digital thermometer?

Wrong. You need black body to check accuracy of IR thermometers (unlikely that you will have one). Accuracy bellow 50F is +/-3F and other ranges is +/- 1.5% of the reading.

I cant get my weber remote thermometer to read the temp.

Note: both the transmitter and receiver unit have a re-set button under the battery compartment lid. If the receiver is not receiving a signal from the transmitter, you will need to disconnect the probe and re-set both units while 'on' before re-connecting the probe.

This is straight off the weber website, and it works coz mine just started reading temp

My acu-rite wireless thermometer model #00604RX isn't capturing the wireless sensor signal..both have new batteries and worked before changing old battery..reset the buttons too...help

Double check the batteries and the direction in which they are installed. If there is one backwards in the sending unit that is outside, it will not send a signal. Also, there is typically one battery in the indoor unit that is responsible for receiving the signal from the outdoor unit. If all of the batteries are in correctly except that battery, you will see the display, but will not get the data transmitted from the outside sending unit.

Take the batteries out of both units (the base and the outdoor thermometer). Put the batteries back into the outdoor unit, and then put the batteries back into the base unit. This worked for me.

INSTALLING BATTERIES
IMPORTANT:Read the section SETTING UP THE THERMOMETER before installing the batteries for the first time.

1.Remove the rear cover of thermometer. Install 2 new AA batteries. Replace battery cover.
2.Loosen 4 screws on rear battery cover of the Remote Sensor and slide battery cover off.
3.Install 2 new AA batteries .
4.After batteries are installed, the remote sensor will begin transmitting and automatically register to the Thermometer
(within range) after several minutes. However, you can also press the small button in the battery compartment (labeled Tx) to register the Remote Sensor to the Thermometer immediately
5.Replace battery cover and tighten 4 battery screws. Make ure that the battery cover is fully on and tightened to assure a watertight seal.

SETTING UP THE THERMOMETER
The thermometer can monitor up to two different Remote Sensors on two separate channels. Add-on remote sensors can be purchased separately and are compatible with the GE Wireless Thermometer/Clock (model GE5805WS4) as well as this unit. When first installing, always insert batteries into the Thermometer first, then into the Remote Sensor.
The thermometer uses random security code technology-it will learn the random code of the first Remote Sensor it detects and log in as channel 1. Channel 2 will register in the same way. NOTE: Registered channels will be erased when the batteries of the Thermometer or Remote Sensor are removed. When replacing batteries for a Remote Sensor, remember to clear the corresponding channel of the Thermometer in this way:

1.Remove batteries from the remote sensor (step 2 of installing batterie)
2.Select the channel that you would like to clear by pressing the CH button on the Thermometer until this channel number is displayed.
3.Hold the CH button for 3 seconds to clear the channel
4.Follow steps 3-5

MOUNTING THE REMOTE SENSOR AND THERMOMETER
Remote Sensor is suitable for outdoor mounting (watertight) at a range up to 100 feet from the Thermometer. HOWEVER, HE UNIT SHOULD NOT BE MOUNTED IN A POSITiON WHERE IT WILL BE SUBMERSED IN WATER, OR EXPOSED TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT, OR NEAR OTHER SOURCES OF HEAT OR COLD (I won't bother typing the rest) except for:

LOW Battery icon for the sensor will show up on either the
ch 1 or ch 2 display depending on which sensor is losing battery power.

Battery life 6 months
Temp Range Therm 32 to 122 deg F
Remote Sensor -58 to 158 deg F *
*Alkaline batteries can freeze temporarily at temps below -4 deg F. In this condition, the Remote Sensor cannot accurately transmit temp info to the Thermometer. This limits the effective minimum temp fo the Remote Sensor to -4 deg F

Operational Range....>50ft(and up to 100ft)(less interferances)

RF Channel ....refresh to "---" if no signal received in 60 minutes
