We had a power outtage the other day. Now our microwave won't heat anything. Keypad works fine, light turns on, tray spins... It just won't heat anything.
unplugged mine and it didn't help.. just started not heating out of the blue today.. kids made a couple of bags of popcorn now will not heat anything.. do not like opening covers on things like this..

Take the cover off the machine and look for a 13amp fuse that supplys the tranformers. BEWARE!!!
when you open the machine disconnect from the mains and do not touch the high power circuits the capacitors can hold a charge that can kill.

First, I'm not a GE tech * STOP! * Door opened should turn off all power except the display. This is a safety measure, * Unplug and DO NOT use! * Check warranty. Call for service. * Check with store or vendor for replacement. Aloha, ukeboy57
Usually when it doesn't het there is a problem with either the magnetron or one of the power tranistors. You would have to get a shop to tell you what the problem is as it can be a few things. If you have warrenty either maytags or from the store just find out from the store/maytag where the repair depot is. They will either repair or replace it. If no warrenty then don;t do anything without getting an estimate. It may be just as cheap to buy a new microwave.
you may have gotten a power surge and that can cause some funny things to happen, 1st is there power to the oven, 2nd if so there may be an internal fuse protector built in to the oven, check with the manual for anything of that sort listed. if not you may have to take it in and have it repaired by a pro. there is a lot of voltage in these ovens and unless you know what you are doing a person could get hurt

The first thing to try
is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a minute, plug it
back in, set the clock, then try again.
Let us know if the hard reset doesn't fix it and please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.
