Question about PC Desktops

Have a Toshiba M45 that shuts down whenever it feels like it. After the last time it shut down it will not boot.

    Random shut downs usually have something to do with heat or power. Check and make sure your a/c port is not loose and getting power to you laptop & check the a/c power adapter it self.
    Check your CPU fan try compress air to blow out anything that obstruct the airway.

Need to reset too factory condition my toshiba equium


Hi,
try these steps, hope they will help you:
1. Copy all your files and documents to an external storage device.
2. Shut down the computer.
3. Turn the PC back on and hit the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Option Screen appears.
4. Click "Repair Your Computer" if you are not already on it and then press ENTER
5. choose your country and click OK
6. On the "System Recovery Options Screen" click "Restore Application" which is the last option.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions
8. When prompted, click on "Full Factory Recovery"
9. "Next"
10. Click "Yes"
11. you will notice for a while it seems like nothing is happening, give it some time.
12. After some minutes, recovery will complete and you click "Finish"

S-4054 will not load at start up tries to and then shuts down


It's an Issue with booting files.... re-installation of Operating system will only resolve your issue...

Won't shut down completely


If shutting down XP takes what seems to be an inordinate amount of time, here are a couple of steps you can take to speed up the shutdown process:
  • Don't have XP clear your paging file at shutdown. For security reasons, you can have XP clear your paging file (pagefile.sys) of its contents whenever you shut down. Your paging file is used to store temporary files and data, but when your system shuts down, information stays in the file. Some people prefer to have the paging file cleared at shutdown because sensitive information such as unencrypted passwords sometimes ends up in the file. However, clearing the paging file can slow shutdown times significantly, so if extreme security isn't a high priority, you might not want to clear it. To shut down XP without clearing your paging file, run the Registry Editor (click Start > Run, then type regedit in the Run box) and go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

  • Change the value of ClearPageFileAtShutdown to 0. Close the Registry, and restart your computer. Whenever you turn off XP from now on, the paging file won't be cleared, and you should be able to shut down more quickly.

    Note: Please be careful when editing the Registry; you can do a lot of damage here. Don't change or delete anything unless you know exactly what it is.

Dell Dimension 9200 keeps shutting down and won't start up


the key issue on the uncommanded shutdown is the POWER LED. If upon shutdown, the power LED Flashes AMBER, then the power supply is suspect.

If no flashing amber indication, then the next think I check is the heatsink (Processor overheating) remove, clean and apply arctic Silver heat transfer paste, see if the issuje goes away

Last but not least if the system is failing to boot, and displays a 3 4 diag LED code, then you may have a RAM module that is bad or may just need reseating. Running diags off of the Rersoujrce CD is something to look at too

Shutting down incorrectly


Hit F8 while booting up then start the computer using the last known good configuration. If this helps please rate me if not let me know so I can help. mysleuth

I copied this from WinXP Help and Support you should be able to restore your system.

To start the computer using the last known good configuration
  1. Print these instructions before continuing. They will not be available after you shut down your computer in step 2.
  2. Click Start, click Shut Down, and then, in the drop-down list, click Shut down.
  3. In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.
  4. When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.
  5. Use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.
  6. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.

  • Choosing Last Known Good Configuration provides a way to recover from problems such as a newly added driver that may be incorrect for your hardware. It does not solve problems caused by corrupted or missing drivers or files.
  • When you choose Last Known Good Configuration, only the information in registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet is restored. Any changes you have made in other registry keys remain.
  • NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function

I have a toshiba laptop which needs formatting. Whenever I start the procedure the laptop shuts down 10% into formatting. I have tried this several times. The laptop runs normally if I am in windows. ...


Start with a boot disk. run a scandisk to find any errors, then try using fdisk to reconfigure your partitions, enabling you to format. this has worked for me in the past with desktop pcs.

Toshiba, when i start the computer. it says toshiba tempro accounted a problem, computer logging of, and then it shuts down.


There are a myriad of problems that could have resulted in this.
1. A virus has shut down your system
2. Memory has gone bad
3. Last software you installed has corrupted the hard drive
Possible solutions:
1. When it is coming up – hit F8 (over and over again) till the menu comes up :

Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode

Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.

See if you can get in safe mode. IF NOT – repeat these steps, and instead of clicking on Safe Mode – Click on “Last Known Good Configuration”
IF THAT does not work:
Insert your recovery CD and see if you can boot up to that.
If THAT still does not work, you have a hardware problem, either memory chips (RAM) or your Hard Drive.

Computer won't boot up past windows starting up


hi , try this
Slow Boot and shut down : Go to “RUN” and type in “ regedit”
2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3). SYSTEM
4). CurrentControlSet
5). Control (click on control)
6) on right windows pan look for the option : program kill time 20 sec

My computer starts but before booting it shuts down.


You may have lost part of your windows program. If you have a system restore disk, you can run a system restore and probably fix your problem.
Some of your windows files have gotten deleted. When windows gets to this point all windows knows to do is restart. A virus can cause this problem.
