Question about Canon Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

I have a i 9100 printer. Had used an old I mac and everything was rosy. Got a new I Mac and am not enjoying the same software. With the old Mac, the printer would let me know how much ink was left. The new one will not. On the old Mac, the printer box would let me pick the kind of paper I was using. The new one will not. The printer driver is the same but the reaction of the computer is definitely different.

I am happy to know that there was nothing that I am doing wrong! I will contact Canon to see if there is a driver that will make my new Mac happier.

I downloaded the canon driver for Mac os.  Do I now have two printer drivers on the hard drive?  Do I need to trash the driver I loaded from CD in order to see if the download drive is any better?

every time a new Mac OS version is released, the risk is that some of the device do not work the same way with the new OS. In some case the device may not even be accepted at all.
All you could do is getting a copy of the old Mac OS and installing it on the new Mac, I strongly suggest not to proceed in this direction, as installing an old Mac Os releas onto a new Mac will give more troubles than benefits.
Guess you have to cope with the problems caused by the new OS until (and if) Canon release a new driver for 9100

Here is canon download page for i9100, try also downloading latest software and driver for your printer, and see if it does make any difference. You have to select Mac OS version in select OS box.

HP Colorsmart C8180 won't scan from my Mac laptop, but works fine with desktop with same system.

The scanner uses a different driver than the printer. You may want to try the scanner driver from a similar scanner/printer or use the generic driver combo for the printer/scanner. It may be that the Mac laptop is not picking up a compatible Scanner driver.

Deskjet F2180 not printing with Mac OS X 10.4.11

When you installed the new software did you delete your old print setup in the printer preferences as it may be conflicting with the new driver. I would delete all appropriate hp F2180 printers from the printer preferences and then install the print software again. When you do that does your printer show up? if it does not show up there could be a problem with the usb cable or the usb port on the back of your mac, swop it into another usb port, if it still does not show up, use a different usb cable. Hope this helps.

I have a new MAC, how can I use my Dell wireless V305 printer/scanner with it?

The only way to use the scanner/printer with your Mac is if it is compatible with the mac and you use the software that should have come with the Scanner/Printer.
