    Thank you so much robotek!

I took your advice and unfortunately the red light is still on when all speaker and microphone wires are removed so it must be the tower itself. :( I am calling several companies this morning to get it serviced. Your advice was very helpful and I really appreciate you taking the time to help me. :)

Hi ckcms5

All I can give you is a confirmation on the fact that something has gone wrong with the head.

  1. First thing to do is check you speakers, and leads for short circuits. Best way to do this is plug them in normally, and check at the Head end from tip to sleeve of the Jack connector. If you measure anything lower than 4 ohms, or any dramatic differences between the speakers, then you have a problem with either a lead, or the speaker that shows low ohms.
  2. If the protection light is still on with the speakers disconnected from the head, then the head is faulty and will require a tech to check it out for you.

Be sure to do both tests. Sometimes it can be a short in the speaker side of things that blew the head up in the first place. Checking they are OK before plugging in your newly repaired head saves you from doing the whole exercise over again.

I am more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about it, please get back to me here, or use the ASK function to go straight to me :) If you are still unsure, have problems, or we need to look at the situation more deeply, then before you give a rating for this advice, hit the ASK button Thanks for using FixYa, If you consider the advice I have given you as sound, a FixYa rating is a great reward for my efforts to help you. Cheers.

One important note to be aware of Polarity. DC connections are Positive + and Negative -. RED/Black and/or White wires. Yellow is usually Video. Do not Reverse the polarity as this can cause mismatches and/or short circuits. Disconnect your attached wires and re-attach them correctly and firmly. Wires must be set into or onto the posts or connection points correctly by + or - and they may not touch one another. Check the Reset or Fuse on the amp and make certain you have full power.
If you fail to polarize correctly, you could damage the speakers moreso than the Amp.

You haven't sufficiently defined what is wrong. "Not good" is subjective. Before you shell out for different hardware you should pinpoint the problem.

The source (you, mics) and the speakers are the most obvious sources of sound quality issues. Properly functioning amplifiers operated within their limits produce effectively undetectable differences in the sound.

Feedback from the speakers to the mics will sound awful.

Fender Champion 600

it is possible to "blow" the input channel if you turn the volume up above a quarter( if it's set by numbers, say 1 low and 30 max then set to 6 or 7)
a microphone has no external power and runs entirley from the voice coil inside(micro volts) and the mp3 playrt will put out volts.

Footpedal for a Fender Princeton 112 plus amp

This one SHOULD work... use a plain 1/4 inch speaker cable to connect to the amp.

Please note that information is sparse...

I would recommend calling Musicians Frien.com or Same Day music.com and have them verify if this will work.
