Fax/phone problem Hy, My MX310 is connected to a DSL line exactly like in the book. But the phone call is interrupted by the fax after approx. 30 sec. I tried to put Remote RX off, but it did not worked. Service provider could fix the problem ? It is worth to take the machine there? Thanks. mail to answer: [email protected]

You need to apply Canon's firware update at http://www.canon.com and search for fumx310swin1040en.exe if you have Windows or for an iMac the file is MX310 series Firmware Upgrade Utility Ver. 1.040 (Mac OS X) with a file name of fumx310sosx1040en.dmg

Too bad Canon can't be bothered to email it's registered users to notify them that the machine they sold us was shipped with defective firmware and attach the fix to the message to save us from hunting for the solution.

I try to get to people right away but I have been moving an office in the daytime. I'm sure its and easy fix and sometimes you just get better results by having another set of eyes looking at them.

Can canon mf4370 fax on dsl line

Fax machine operation can be interrupted by DSL lines, however, because the DSL signal is also transmitted through phone wiring. This can result in a loss of data in the fax if steps are not taken to prevent it. Fortunately, this is not a difficult thing to fix.

Items you will need

  • DSL filter
Step 1

Unplug the fax machine from the phone jack.
Step 2

Plug your DSL filter into the phone jack. DSL filters are specifically designed to eliminate interference from the DSL line on your phone line.
Step 3

Plug the fax machine into the phone line jack on the DSL filter. You can now use your fax machine and DSL line at the same time without risk of data loss or interference.

Telephone interupts the internet connection

I'm going to assume from your problem description that you have DSL service. With DSL, every phone or other device (answering machine, fax machine, etc.) must connect through a DSL filter. The only unfiltered connection should be the phone cord from the DSL modem line jack. If you have a phone connected to the line without a filter, it will cause your DSL connection to be interrupted. Make sure that everything is filtered and it should take care of the trouble.

Cannot send a fax

For a fax to work you do not need a broadband. What you need is a phone like. It seems that you are trying to use broadband for fax because it is the same phone line that they both are on. Sorry, will not work that way. If you trace back you will find that there is a little box that has the phone line coming into from outside. The box splits it into phone and dsl. It is this phone line that should go into the fax and not the dsl line.
So please remove the dsl line from the fax and connect the phone line and you will see that the fax works.

I have a Cannon MX310 printer, fax , copier. I cannot receive faxes. Can it have something to do with the fact that I have digital phone service, what setting does it need to work.

You might try a DSL phone filter to eliminate extraneous noise on the digital line. My digital phone line had constant, repetitave clicking noise until I installed a DSL filter. Have you tried calling your fax number from a cell phone to see if there is noise on the line and or if the fax will pick up?

MY INTERNET GOES DOWN EVERY TIME THE FAX MX310 RINGS

There are some good suggestions here. Check out the solution and follow the steps. The reason dsl seems to be being dropped is the noise in teh line, and as far as I can tell this is a very common problem. Try these suggestions out but you may want to just purchase a better fax machine.

Want to be able to fax from computer even though DSL connected

I'm afraid I got bad news for you. The fax line and voice line are using the same frequency so you should be able to fax directly from your pc fax modem when using Dial up connection but in DSL the data and voice are using different frequency. So you wont be able to fax using DSL unless u\you use a separate fax machine.

Digital subscriber line (DSL) uses digital technology to bring high-bandwidth information over ordinary copper telephone wires. Digital data is transmitted to the computer directly as digital data (instead of analog) and this allows the telephone company to use a much wider bandwidth for transmitting the data to its destination. XDSL is a generic reference to the different variations of DSL, such as ADSL, HDSL, and RADSL. DSL services rely on an am radio wave that has a range of 600 KHz to 2.2 GHz. HP all-in-one and fax products are all ITU Group 3 fax devices that operate at about 200 KHz (below the DSL capability) and are not directly compatible with digital signals. However, if specified during the set-up of the DSL line, the signal can be separated so that some of the bandwidth is used to transmit an analog signal (for voice and fax) while the remaining bandwidth is used to transmit digital data. This allows for the use of the telephone or fax, and computer on the same line and at the same time. When inquiring about DSL with the service provider, specify the desire to use the phone line for voice or fax calls while connected through the computer to the Internet. I hope I explained the issue clearly to you.

MX310 fax problem

We have the telephone and printer/fax on the same line and, when the printer is turned on, the fax rings when receiving a phone call. The incoming phone line is connected to the "telephone" modular jack.
