Question about Televison & Video

I have a 17" Tv model# 20pt6245/37 ser.#dn1a0648266055 & it has a colored line about 2 inches below the top of the screen. It's black above it. Adjusting the 4.3 does not fix it. I bought it June 9, 2007.

    IT HAS A LINE ABOUT 2 INCHES BELOW THE TOP OF
    THE SCREEN. iT'S BLACK ABOUVE IT.

    OLD. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS WRONG AFTER 1 YEAR.

    TO BE REPAIRED. I WON'T BUY ANOTHER PHILIPS.

It is a convergence problem , contact a repair technician and have convergence service setup procedure done, if this does not fix it, than one of the convergence ICs has probably blown and must be replaced

    You have a convergence problem, inside your tv there are two chips that manage convergence, one of them had probably blown. To test them a techniciam should be contacted, he will take apart tv and test the two pico fuses at the base of the ICs, and eventually replace the ICs, after this a complete convergence setup procedure must be performed.

    Well, you had been really unlucky, as the guaranty offered by Philips last one year and expired 7th of june, less than one month ago. If you still have the purchase receipt, you can try contacting Philips, claim with them that TV went broken one month ago and see if you can get a warranty extension on your tv.
    If you let me know your country I can find Philips customer service contact in your area.

I have a slightly arched pink & green line accross the top of the screen.


I am wondering if we have the correct model number listed here? If so with the model listed either something is inside like a spider web or that model uses a optical light engine which "might" be able to do this if bad.

There are actually 2 screens that are still available. You will need to determine which one is damaged. These are:

1) Fresnel screen Part # 483538037091 Cost: $276.12
2) Lenticular screen Part # 483538037078 Cost: $198.00

JVC TV 27" Black line on top of screen


This is for the original problem.. Not the second post.

It's a problem in the horizontal deflection circuit. The parts will be available, but you will be in for some daignostic repairs also to find out why it failing or if it has failed on it's own.
There should be a few caps near the IC (an LA7840) that could also be causing the problem. Click the link, it will make it easier to locate the part inside.

This is the kind of repair best left to a TV tech, but get it done now and it won't cost anywhere near as much as it will later.

you have maybe black lines in picture common on some LCD tv this could be pixel or bad board depending on what side the lines are closest too!
