Xerox XC830 table top copier. paper jam where the paper feeds into between the hot roller. When I open up the copier the part that heats up does not seem to be engaged where it needs to be and the wheels are connecting on the ends to feed the paper through.

I'm sorry i meant to say that the wheels are "NOT" connecting and it makes a clicking sound.

  • jamietindle Jul 06, 2008

Your #1 solution did not work. Let me try to explain in more detail. the horizontal piece that heats up is freely able to lift up when I have the copier open. When i press down on the closure button and fake that it is closed, all of the wheels on the top are turning appropriately. It seems like the horizontal piece (prioter???) is not locking down into position therefore the wheels that turn on the top are not making a good contact/fit to the loosely turning wheels on the bottom there fore the paper is not being pulled through. It seems that piece should somehow lock into position. I have checked that all of the loose turning wheels turned properly and the ones one the top turn when it thinks the copier is closed. Any other ideas?? should I check with another expert?

    1. Turn the power off.

    2. Unplug the Power Cord.

    3. Press the Release Button on the right-hand side of the copier to open the top half of the copier.

    4. Remove the Toner Cartridge and set it aside.
NOTE: If you are not sure how to remove the Toner Cartridge, refer to Related Items at the bottom of this page.

    5. Look into the copier from the right-hand side at the widest opening.

    6. Place a small amount of alcohol on a cotton swab.

    7. Clean
the four yellow translucent Feed Rollers on the bottom floor of the
copier using your cotton swab. Thoroughly clean each Feed Roller all
      the way around.

    8. Clean the four charcoal grey Feed Rollers,
located a few inches behind the yellow Feed Rollers. Thoroughly clean
each Feed Roller all the way around.

    9. Remove the Paper Tray(s) completely.

    10. Stand the copier upright on the back side.

    11. Looking
at the bottom of the copier, you will see two grey Half Moon Rollers.
Turn the Half Moon Rollers away from you in a counter clockwise
direction to expose the round side. Thoroughly clean both Half Moon
      Rollers all the way around.

    12. If you have two Paper Trays, clean the second set of Half Moon Rollers that are used by the second Paper Tray.

    13. Carefully set the copier back down in the normal operating position.

    14. Reinstall the Paper Tray(s).

    15. Reinsert the Toner Cartridge.

    16. Close the top half of the copier.

    17. Plug in the Power Cord.

    18. Turn the power on.

    19. Make a test copy.

If this did mot work then there is hardware failure in the printer you need to get it serviced from a local service center or if within warranty get it done by the company.....

You need new fuser assembly kit. The black gear that is supposed to be moving might have been totally broken.

Paper jams in back of machine?

you have an obstruction either a piece of paper between the rolllers or the secondary feed rollers are not turning.... open the machine and follow the feed path ...take a piece of paper and manually feed the paper with the machine in the off position look at the feed rollers then the secondary rollers( usually two small rods with rubber sleeves kissing each other ...if you can look at the sides on the machine( inside the cover) see if the gears ( usually white ) can turn or mesh correctly... if you do not see any obstruction then these rollers are not turning when they are supposed to when you press the print button. 90 percent of these problems are paper jams if no jam something is not activating the feed rollers

I need the part # for a pickup roller

If anything else fails, call Xerox and ask for parts support. They might be able to sell you the part. Keep in mind you might have to purchase the whole paper feed assembly, not just the roller.
good luck.

REPEATED REAR PAPER JAMS-BROTHER INTELLIFAX 2820

Try making prints or copies with the rear door open. If it does not jam your fixing unit (hot area) is functioning properly. With the rear door closed try again making copies or prints. If it jams it's most likely the exit rollers acting up.

1. I've seen the exit sensor break on these units and sometimes the drive gears wear and do not feed properly.
2. If using after market toner or refills this may also coat the exit roller with a film which prevents the exit rollers from feeding parper out by reducing the friction of theses rollers. Clean with fantastic untill cloth does not turn black.

I have a xerox 5028 copier and it has a paper jam at the end where it is supposed to come out. What causes this problem and how do I fix it?

Shut it off for about 45 minutes to let it cool down. The remove the 2 brass screws from the black area on top the fuser. Remove the web assembly and you will see one of the flat stripper fingers bent down blocking the paper path. Just flip it back in place.

Does it say clear jam immediatly or does it start to run then declare a jam?
If it starts then tells you to clear a jam and no paper is in the machine, your feed rollers are shot. Smooth like trying to drive a car on ice.
If it says that all the time, no attempt to feed then you have a sensor either dirty, knocked out of place or something stuck on a sensor.
Either in the paper path or in the scanner.

Can you look into the paper tray and actually see if the feed rolls are turning? You may have either a bad paper feed clutch, or the solonoid that releases the feed rollers is bad.
Also the paper tray should move up and down when the paper feeds to move the paper against the rollers. Up to feed down to eliminate paper drag. One of those fingers that raise the tray may be binding against the bottom of the tray not allowing proper movement.
If you can get a flash light and observe what is going on. Then let me know.

My best guess with the A4 is that the tray guide is not set correctly. Or the machine has been told that your tray has A4 in the tray.
If you resolve the A4 issue, you will most likely resolve the jamming problem since it is looking for a longer piece of paper.
Additionally, take a cloth with a soapy cleaner. Fantastic, some cleaner like that, take out the drum, and toner cartridges and clean all the rollers you can see throughly.
If that doesnt resolve the issue then you may also have some very worn out rollers. See if they feel slick .
