Could be a could a couple of things

#1 Ensure the video cable is connected to the correct jack on the tower (Some systems have both an integrated video card and an Expansion card. See if there are 2 blue 15 pin vga ports, if there are 2, connect to the other one.

#2 You may be using DVI (White connection) and have the imput select set to D-Sub (Analog) Use the input select button on the monitor to sleect DVI

If you have a problem getting into safe mode using windows Vista or 7, boot up your computer. As soon as it tries to start windows turn off the power. When you try to start it again it should come up with a menu asking if you want to use safe mode or boot normally. Select safe mode.

Out of range

When your wxternal monitor says "Out of Range" it may mean that your resolution settings on your computer are set too high.

One way to diagnose and solve this is to reboot your machine.

During bootup press the F8 button to enter Safe Mode.

When prompted, select Safe Mode.

Your machine will then boot up with the mnimum amount of drivers required to run the Windows operating system.

Once you have loggin into your computer, right-click on the Desktop and select Properties.

The Display Prpoerties window will pop up. Select the Settings tab.

Slide the idicator to 1024x768 and hit Apply, then Ok.

Restart your computer and your monitory should display your computer screen.

Please classify this with the appropriate computer brand and model.

Sounds like you need to boot up in VGA mode instead of Safe Mode

Step 1. Power Down your computer.

Step 2. Powwer on your computer and press F8 to enter Safe Mode

Step 3. Instead of selecting Safe Mode, Select VGA mode.

Step 4. Once in Windows, uninstall your graphics card for your Monitor.

Step 5. Restart your machine, when you log back in Windows will reinstall the drivers for your monitor.

Monitor displays "warning pc entering power saving mode

Hello
Sounds like to power settings were set too low. Restart the PC, before it gets to Windows press F8. This will send the PC into SAFE mode. You'll get a menu of which SAFE mode to select, just select SAFE mode with networking. Once in SAFE mode, go to START, Control Panel, Power Options. From there select new settings. Since this is a desktop, I would make the settings very long. Good luck

I need to reset the display settings but i cant see what they say

It's a simple fix. Reboot your computer and press the F8 key repeatedly until you come to a boot menu. Select Safe Mode. This will take you into Windows at a default of 640x480 resolution. Adjust the settings according to the monitor and lower them to what you had them before you did the changes.

Another method is when you are at the boot menu selection, you can select safe mode with command prompt.

Type c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe for windows xp to use the system restore and rollback windows to when it was working properly.

For windows vista type:
c:\windows\system32\rstrui.exe

Will not restart, has been deadlocked in power safe. I pressed any key and moved the mouse. Nothing.

Sounds to me that Windows is setting your computers video controller to output a video signal whose timing is not compatible with your display. You may be able to boot Windows in safe mode and then be able to pick a compatible video timing ( refresh rate) in the display settings Windows control panel. Did your monitor come with any kind of setup disk?
If your monitor is a flat panel try the resolution refresh rate at 60MHz. Lower than a CRT.
Hope this does it for you, please leave rating...

My moniter says out of range.

Video Card has a resolution setting higher than the monitor supports. The below works with XP, may work for Vista as well

Start the PC
Start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see a menu
Choose Safe Mode (make sure not to pick safe mode command prompt)
Once you see the desktop, right click on an empty area on the desktop, then choose properties

Find the resolution property in this program and bring it down. 1024 x 768 should be ok

Click on OK til the window disappears

Reboot

Reboot and hit F8 continuously after the beep. Choose Safe Mode. Open the
configuration window again. Move the bar and then move it back to whatever
Safe Mode had it set at. Hit apply. Reboot.
