My brother hl2140 won't print. Yes - it is on and plug is secured. I have attached this printer to a new computer. I have gone into control panel and the hl shows that I have 7 documents ready to print. What is my next step or what is wrong. Thanks B

most likely it has gone into the printer's memory.
Turn off printer at power point.
CHECK COMPUTER FOR PRINTER QUEUE
Also check computer for printers icon on right bottom of screen and click on it to open the printer queue.
Then cancel print job if in Windows operating system's printer pool.
Turn printer back on at power point
If you can't find the printer queue go to printer settings in the control panel of the p.c and find the printer queue.

If this is not possible for you to find.
Go to services (in control panel) if windows operating system and find the print spooler service and restart the service .

Check Print Spooler Settings in your PC. Delete all print jobs in queue. Check Paper size settings in printer properties (Print tools)

Black pages are more likely to be a bad drum unit than the toner.

check if everything plug good, if yes and still not working, go to control panel, click on printer to see if it is in the system, if not you need to install it, if yes it already in the system, unplug the printer for few minutes and plug it back .

If you recently purchased it, just put it back in the box and take it back to the store for a replacement. I wouldn't bother tryng to fix it if you can get a brand new one that works the way it's supposed to.

it might be possible that the motor if the printer have slowed down or the blent attached to it might hve gone old.... see the nearest printer shop.

Update the print driver.
Go to the Brother website and look for the latest driver.

HL2140 is GDI printer so he cant print merged documents, you need printer with PCL or PS3 drivers

When you replace a drum in a brother machine you have to tell the machine it's a new drum. The instructions are on a sheet packed with the new drum. With the front door open you hold the panel button until all the lights flash on, then close the door and you're ready to print.

check the usb sucket on the printer board and see if the legs are firm if ok check the board
