You can get a tube for your philliat the following link, and they provide free tech support so you can easilly remove your tube and install the replacement. If youre not sure which tube you need leave them a email and they respond quickly. Here is the link.

I cant understand why you rated this as inappropriate. I was trying to help you locate a Picture tube for a fraction of what they usually go for.

I would say that the tube is suspect as usually when a tube is shorting you will get often what appears as swooshes of color. Normally tubes cost about 300.00 but if you go to the likn I posted you can get one for half that and they include the lens assembly and free instalation instructions.

Yes, thats the right one for your model. That fits the PTV chassis which is what your model is. And yes your TV has three tubes ( CRTs) red, blue and green your red is the one thats malfunctioning.

Whats the model number of the 44 inch Tv? And I will check.

If its a phillips or magnavox and it isnt a HDTV the tube will work. If its a HDTV phillips you will need the other phillips tube listed under the Projection CRT catagory.

Its the one RED CRT 1 under the Phillips parts catagory. Those are for the PTV phillips which means projection TV not HDTV. As long as he orders the RED crt 1 for 135.00 he will have the correct one.

No not really. They send instructions to change the tube which shows pictures on how to do it. It will take about 1 hr to remove the old and replace the new one. They also explain how to discharge the old CRT safely as well.

Yes thats the PTV chassis the tube RED CRT1 will fit in that set. without any problems.

I doubt it as those CRTs usually run about 300 plus bucks each.

You would have to go to the site and leave them a email asking about their return policy. As I am not sure what that is.

I am not sure, but if you ask servicemanuals for which remote works the PTV series phillips/magnavox I am pretty sure they can tell you and they more than likely have the one you need.

What powers the picture tubes in a 55 inch model tn55x81

The tubes in the projection set among other things need: 200 volt screen source, filament voltage and high voltage.

Note that if set for example has a loss of vertical or horizontal sweep this will be detected and the tubes will be shut off to prevent the tubes from getting a burn mark on their screens.

I have a magnavox 55 inch screen model nu is 6p5440w102. Picture is dark tried to lighten but wont brighten up anymore.

This is an older set------with back off you will see 3 large black cylinders with lens---these are the red, green and blue picture tubes.

Clean the lens with a lens cloth or paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.

Annual cleaning of them is suggested as dust or dirty lens will cut down the brightness---this happens gradually over time and will make the picture darker and somewhat dull looking.

I do it with set on but you should UNPLUG SET and just look to see if dust on lens.

Simple and takes only a few minutes.

Let me know what happens.

I would say your small signal module is bad. This is the board with the convergence ICs. Have a tech or yourself pull the board out and replace the ICs and some resistors. Checkout TVREPAIRKITS.com. They will have your model and its symptoms. Hope to guide you in the right direction!

My 60inc phillips magnovox has poor color, what do i have to do?

we just bought a 55 inch phillips magnavox and told it was working fine when we got it home and turned it on it was a red screen and was really foggy. we looked up some tv repair places and ONLY 1 told us it was the picture tube and to look down them with a flashlight for bacteria! sure enough the green and blue had it. so we found one place that would sell us the coolant fluid that you have to change the others could get it in or wanted us to bring the tv to them. we did it our selves the stuff was $17.00 a bottle or if we took it in it would be about $375.00. we have a great picture now and it wasn't as hard as all the other repair places said.

Phillips magnavox 55" projection

The coolant needs to be changed in the CRTs ( picture tubes) this is a very common problem with all phillips and magnavox rear projections. Changing the coolant will restore the color and brightness and stop the halo effect. You can get the phillips CRT coolant kit at the following link and it includes all the coolant and the step by step instruction CD with pictures. Its actually a fairly easy job. Heres the link its listed under the repair Kit category.
