Question about Canon PowerShot A95 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Pwereshot A95 suddenly quit!!

I was on Vacation, took a few shots, handed my wife the camera, and when she tried to take some pics and it just went dead. We had put new batteries in but nothing happened. It will take pics throught eh view finder, but when you open the LCD screen it goes dead. You can't review any of you pics. Is it worth fixing? I read somewhere on other sites that it might be a fuse in the board. What do you think?

I have the EXACT same issue with my A95. Camera stores pix to the cf card, but the bottom of the camera gets warm (even turned off) and as soon as you open the LCD display the camera powers off (with lens still open) like there is a short in the ribbon cable to the LCD. Close the LCD and the camera will power off and on and take pix...jsut can't use the LCD for shooting or playback. I have taken prestine care of my camera...never dropped.

Seems to me like the mechanism to drive the lens is having issues. My daughters did the same, after a while it would power on and attempt to extend the lens, then power off. If it's under warranty i would have the manufacture look at it, and if it's a sony, good luck.

Unable to access vacation pics

It's not the battery get another charger and it will charge the existing one. I found one on Ebay for battery and charger both for 12.99. When I got it the charger charged the new battery and the one I had already. The battery is an NP20. I have the same camera and same thing happened to me it is worth a shot. The chargers that come with this camera must have problems because there are a lot of these same questions on here. Let me know what you find out hopefully your pics get saved. Thanks

Dear Davo Pottso

This has even happen to my camera, i suggest u to ignore this effect. It has been said that in sony cameras a type of Iodine glue is ussed inside which reacts and causes these sort of problems on heating of the camera. My best advice is to keep the camera cool and avoid over heating by continous shots.

Lost pictures????

It sounds like your memory card is corrupt. This most important thing is not to use the card any further until you have recovered your pictures. Unfortunately i see from the date of your post that this may not be the case. What you need is some memory card picture recovery software. There are several shareware programs available for download. Try googling it. Good luck!
