First thing to check is to make sure no keys are stuck down. Second is to check that num lock is not enabled (should be top right hand corner for a ThinkPad). If they're still not working try testing out all of the other characters on the keyboard. (Try !,@,#,$ etc.). This will confirm that it is an issue with those keys and not the character palette.

How to work key pad

Key pad? Do you mean the keyboard or what?

If it's the touch pad, it may be locked.

Or you may need to find the drivers for it.

If it's locked, to unlock it, it should have a button above the touch pad in the center that has an LED above it. If it doesn't contain a button, your computer should contain a set of FN keys, the FN keys work in conjunction with your number keys. There should be a number key with an icon of something that looks like the touch pad. hold fn + that and it should unlock.

If these aren't the case your pad could be un-lactched from the ribbon, in that case you'll need to tighten it.

If that's not the case, it may be broken.

My Toshiba Satellite P755-s5320 letters and number will not work. Even the number pad on the right side won't work, and yes the num lock is on. I'm thinking my cat may have pushed a button or...

Yes you are correct the print box is displayed when Ctrl + P are pressed. When the Ctrl button is held down one will not be able to type numbers at all.

I think your Ctrl button is stuck, try pressing it repeatedly to unstick it.

Worst case you will need a new keyboard.

Take care!

if the U, I, O, J, K, L, M buttons are also displaying numbers when you type, then your number lock is turned on, use the FN-key + Numlock to turnit off, or just the numlock key alone should fix the issue

Number pad

Usually if ther are numbers, symbols or icons on the other buttons it is a matter of pushing down the function key (FN) while clicking the number key you want. If not it will be the shift key.

My mouse pad itsnt working.. wondering if there is a lock on it!

On some laptops, there is a button that is used to disable the mousepad.  Sometimes it is a small button just above the mouse pad that has a light next to it.  Normally when it is off, the light is either red or amber colored.  There is almost sometimes a function button to toggle the mouse pad on and off.  It is normally one of the "f" keys above the numbers on the keyboard, and should have a picture on it of a mouse.  Then there is usually a FN key in the lower left corner of the keyboard.  You have to hold that down, and press the "f" key at the top of the keyboard that has a picture of a mouse on it at the same time.

Ten key pad keys are turned on. How do i switch them off

Solution#1: Accidentally pressing Sft+Numlock key combination will activate & inactivates ten key pad. (You'll see light enabled in padlock symbol with a number in it [i.e.beside ALL CAPS symbol on your lap monitor]).

Use: "ShiftKey+NumLock" (NumbLock Key: 2nd panel from Top right on keyboard)
