Ok Let me see if this helps if not please comment back with the t-stat model and make as well. The Y terminal on the t-stat needs to be connected to the Y terminal on the heat pump board. If this does'nt fix it your thermostat may have something different going on so please send me the model and make of the t-stat. Also if you know does this unit have outside temperature sensing probes, and or an automatic defrost cycle?

HE heat pump won't talk with old air handler?

The fact is, the air handler supplies the voltage, blower, and electric heat. In order for the heat pump to work correctly, the wiring from the thermostat and heat pump need to be hooked up right to the air handler. The thermostat is what tells which component to come on. If the fan stops, but the condenser keeps going, you either have a faulty fan relay on the air handler, faulty thermostat or wiring, faulty wiring at the heat pump, or the contacts on the new unit are sticking, which is highly doubtful considering it is working now. I hope I have helped you understand this a little more. Good luck and don't let them push you around, get someone that knows what they are looking at.

I have a Goodman A/C unit model number AWUF36106BA and serial number 1010684384. It keeps shutting off on us and we have had a repair man come out and said the problem we had is the emergency shut off...

If the drip pan switch is shutting the unit down , this means you have a condensate drain issue. Be careful about wiring around any safety switch, especially if the furnace is in the attic or on a second floor. You could have water dripping on the ceiling. The drip pan switch is a safety switch. The best thing to do would be to inspect the furnace. The pan is underneath it. Look inside the pan if you can. If it is full of water, use a shop vac and vac the water out of the pan. If there is no water, you can locate the safety switch, take the two wires loose from it and just wire them together. Caution: This will be wiring around the condensate safety switch that could cause water to leak on the ceiling or floor depending where the furnace is. Don't go too long without getting someone out to clean the condensate drain out.

Goodman AC Unit with Heat Pump - Works great cooling when switched to heat the outside unit does not come on - inside comes on and uses emergency heat? What can I check? I first checked the contactor and...

Because the outdoor unit works in cooling, it sounds as though the contactor and other components outside are working correctly. The problem sounds as though it might be somewhere in your thermostat. Has the thermostat been replaced recently? If so, make sure it was wired correctly. If not, check all of the connections and contact points in your thermostat. In order for your outdoor unit to run, you must have 24vac at your "C" Common and "Y" connections. You must have this in COOL mode. Now it has to be determined why you don't have it in HEAT mode. Definitely a thermostat issue.

Hope this helps and good luck! :-)

Fan not running on Heat Pum

That does not sound normal at all, I have a Goodman Heatpump and the Fan on the Evaporator (outside unit) should run as soon as it starts up!
The only delay you should be seeing is when the unit starts, the fan in the AHU starts 5 seconds after and runs for about 1.5 minutes after shutdown.

Goodman PC060-1B Package AC...Need Wiring Help

Depending on the size of your Electric heat you can use one set of wires because your unit does not run with the heat like the heat pump. The large set of wires going to the electric heat should be used. You may have to jumper a new set to the contactor. On Goodman unit come in L1 and L2 jumper to contactor. Very simple good luck. Rus

Goodman furnace

double check your wiring. R terminal on the furnace will provide 24 volts to the t-stat. W terminal in the t-stat will send 24 volts back to the furnace W terminal to turn on the heat. G terminal in the t-stat will send power to the G terminal in the furnace when the t-stat is switched to fan on. Y terminal in the t-stat will send power to the Y terminal in the furnace which in turn will send 24 volts to the A/C outside. The C terminal in the furnace should be connected to the c terminal in the A/C outside as well as to the T-stat. Check the fuse again

Leaking air conditioner unit

I suppose that the water is coming from the unit where the blower motor is. Condensation is created by the evaporator coil while its running and is suppose to drain into a pan under it and through a pipe to the outside. This pipe could be stopped up. The easiest way to fix that is to blow air through the pipe from the outside. It probably comes out close to the outside unit. It could be that your inside filter is dirty causing reduced air flow and making the evaporator freeze too. Change the filter. That may help. There are other steps that you could take if these don't help. Contact me by email if you need to. Cant run over there because I'm in Missouri but may be able to help in a chat room. kstfas@yahoo.com
